Smartphone care and repair series - Part 1

in #smartphone7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemit.

I figured this would be a good platform to roll out a series I've been wanting to do about Smartphone troubleshooting. I have spent 2 years working as technical support for T-Mobile and learned many things about how to take care of and troubleshoot issues with a variety of different smartphones. Hopefully you all enjoy reading this series as much as I enjoy writing it.

For my first post I would like to start out with the most basic form of cell phone care: restarting your device.

Restarting your device:

This is a step in troubleshooting Smart devices that many people overlook because it is so simple that it seems like it couldn't possibly be the answer to your problems. It is also forgotten because users tend to leave their devices on for the purpose of being able to receive texts, calls and notifications constantly, even while they are asleep. More often than not, we will put the device on the charger and leave it on overnight, sometimes for several days in a row before eventually the power runs out and have no choice but to give it a small rest while it charges again.

RESTART YOUR DEVICE ONCE A DAY.

Even if it's when you first wake up or right before you go to sleep. If you start noticing any type of issue with your device, the first place to start is restarting the system. The reason for this is because, just like a traditional desktop computer, the longer you leave it going, the more apps will run in the background, the more notifications and interactions you'll have, without giving your system any kind of a break in the action to reboot the system and start with default settings. This can cause things like your phone not ringing audibly when someone calls you, apps crashing or not responding correctly, missed texts and emails, failed bluetooth connections, the list goes on and on.

If you are unaware at all of how to do this, any operating system should give you the option to restart your device when you press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds. If you choose to, you can simply power down and power back on your device for the same effect.

I hope this has been informative for you.

Please tune in for tomorrow's entry in the series, where I will discuss the Soft Reboot function of popular devices and how this can help you.

Thanks for reading! If you like what you read, please resteem! Subscribe to me so you can see the rest of my posts about Smartphone care and repair!
