After a quite 2016, Micromax is on a roll these days to reclaim lost market share. After launching the series of smartphones, the YU and the flagship , Micromax's online only sub-brand YU is set to launch the Yunique 2 in India.
The Yunique 2 is a successor to the which was launched in India way back in 2015 for Rs 5,499. Last year, YU had launched the YU Yunique Plus which was an updated version of the YU Yunique 2 and came with better specifications. India Today Tech has learnt that the YU Yunique 2 is going to be launched in India on July 24.
The retail box of the Yunique 2 has leaked which gives us a glimpse at what the smartphone will look like. There seems to be a metal rim around the front fascia with no physical buttons on the front and slim side bezels. The top and bottom bezels look quite substantial though, but that is expected of an affordable smartphone. Above the display, we can see the earpiece, front camera and proximity sensor.
When it comes to specifications, two YU smartphones with model number YU5011 and YU5012 were recently spotted on Geekbench which could very well be different variants of the Yunique 2. The listing points towards the devices being powered by the MediaTek MT6737 processor, running on Android 7.0 Nougat and having 2GB (YU5011) and 3GB (YU5012) of RAM.
To recap, the YU Yunique Plus comes with a 4.7-inch 720p HD display covered with Gorilla Glass 3 for protection, 8GB of internal storage which is expandable via a microSD card slot and Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor paired with 2GB of RAM, the Adreno 306 GPU and a 2,000mAh battery. On the imaging front, the smartphone comes with an 8MP rear camera alongside a 2MP front camera.
