THERE'S something I've always found fascinating about rundown and abandoned old buildings. Fascinating in the sense that perhaps even time has forgotten about these places or maybe even just misplaced the memory of these places.
I'm probably sounding much like a stoner at the moment but, there's a beauty in something so destroyed that its almost delicate. Maybe one small stone could make it crumble to bits of nothingness.
As many of you know by now, I am a journalist and often find myself in houses such as this; Houses where drug abuse, prostitution and illegal occupation all happen in one go.
Years ago, we reported on three houses which had been forgotten by a government oversight body tasked with the maintenance of these houses and many others like these around the country.
Technically, these houses are meant for police officers who are unable to afford private housing and so, are provided with houses by the state.
Unfortunately, three of these state houses were left to deteriorate some eight years ago and to date, are left to wither away as opposed to being utilised.
Fellow residents in the area have often reported strange activity - such as prostitution, possible burglars etc. - at the properties however, both law enforcement and government alike haven't batted much of an eye.
Back to the point of this post though, there was a majestic eeriness to the one photo I took and I absolutely love it - it smells of a haunted house with some old bat about to come screeching down the hallway, fingernails of steel tearing at the walls: 'Sonny, have you come to fetch your little sister,' she asks.
Staring at the cauldron to the left, she says: 'You're just in time for supper.'
