Obelisk / Krounebierg
Hi! Todays picture shows an obelisk that is standing near Mersch, a town in Luxembourg. Situated on the Krounebierg ("Crown-Mountain"), it was erected before the second world war in order to mark the center of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (although it is not precisely the geographical center, for what reason ever). After the second world war, it was altered to some extent and now also serves as a memorial for those fallen during the war.
The view from the top of the hill is nice, although you might argue that the landscape in this part of Luxembourg is rather boring.
