Hello Good STEEMers
Seeing one's intimate conversations, pictures or texts splattered across the Internet is not only an invasion of privacy but also a threat to the harmony of personal life and livelihood. In spite of numerous smartphones being hacked, some preventive measures can protect yourself from such hackers.
Tips contains information that will help to prepare you so that you can protect yourself and your loved ones from being the next victims of a phone fraud scandal or the victims of having your privacy invaded by hackers.
- Adopting a proactive protection mindset:
This isn't about paranoia––it's about accepting the reality that sometimes there are people in your life who might want to hack into your personal details for bad reasons. For example, people whom you've fallen out with or fallen out of love with, people who didn't like something you've said or done or friends who have turned decidedly unfriendly for one reason or other. You can't predict how some relationships may turn out, with all the best will in the world, so be mindful of guarding your personal information properly.
- Strengthening passwords:
Remembering easy passwords might be convenient for a while but passwords that rely on things such as your date of birth, the exact sequencing of digits in your phone number or anything else that is easily associated by others with the way you think and act are risky. It's recommended to use complex sequence strings that involve an uppercase letter, number and symbol. The more complex you make the string, the more secure your password. Use uppercase letters in the middle of your password and throw in an obscure symbol to further complicate the password.
- Using distinct passwords for different accounts:
Although using different password strings for each of your accounts can be confusing, the best way to protect your favorite smartphone is to use a different password for each account accessed by phone. Please keep in mind -Weak passwords and Same passwords are easy targets.
- Make a regular backup of the important files:
Your smartphone may contain various important documents including personal photos and videos. Making a regular backup of the data in smartphone can help you if your smartphone is hacked unfortunately!
In MIUI, you can easily do this from Settings >> Additional Settings >> Backup & reset
In other Android Smartphones you can use your Google Account to backup and restore the data.
- Doing a virus scan regularly:
In spite of taking the aforementioned measures, you should scan your smartphone regularly to get rid of unwanted virus. In MIUI, you can easily do this from Security >> Virus scan
