Let IWOWNFIT, as a company starting its business by developing smart bracelet, give some opinions.
Currently, there are about three factors that restrict the development of smart watches/wearable devices:
• Technology
The main constraint on the development of wearable devices is technology, and first among the technical factors is the battery. Even if the Apple Watch, you have to charge it once used for one or two days, the cost would be very high for users.
The battery life will be greatly reduced as long as the smart watch turns on GPS function , not to mention using other functions at the same time. In the later stage, GPS function will be a necessary function for smart watches. How to improve battery life on a product of very limited size is crucial to the development of wearable devices.
• Use Value
The second constraint is the use value provided to users. Currently, functions are simple and need to be further explored. According to relevant market research, wearable devices such as wristbands and watches are mainly used for two purposes now: time watching and step counting. They indeed conflict and overlap with the mobile phone, because the mobile phone can also tell time and count steps.
If these watches are only used to measure steps and tell time, there must be a great limitation on their use value. Because their functions are too simple and non-essential for use requirements, which won't completely solve pain points for them.
• Users' Time & Attention Allocation
Nowadays, people in big cities are inseparable from mobile phones, which have occupied more than 80% of people's time and attention. And shaving off the necessary time people spend on their daily life, finally leaving little time to the bracelet, so this is also a major factor limiting the development of wearable devices. However, according to the data collected so far, sales of wearable devices such as Garmin, Huawei Honor, Apple and Xiaomi are growing rapidly, which also indicates that the market share of wearable devices is increasing. What's more, wearable devices actually have places that mobile phones can't do, such as continuous heart rate measurement, exercise monitoring, physical data collection and so on.
Functions could be equipped with after breaking through the above constraints:
• Take Advantage of The Second Screen
Except for the phone, the smart watch will be the second screen for user to carry, but it has not yet fully used until now.
Compared with mobile phones, the smart watch's screen is closer to people, which makes it easier to get or receive all kinds of information.
A smart watch should be designed to do what it needs to do, and exerting value of the second screen. Watching time and counting steps are too basic, mobile phones also have such function. More functions should be on this screen, such as message push, short message view, quick browsing, recording exercise data and so on.
How to put more and proper functions on the screen of a smart watch can greatly enhance the importance and frequency of use.
• AI Interaction
A true smart watch definitely can't rely on the phone, but can interact directly with it.
It will also be a trend to deepen the integration of smart watch and voice, deepen the voice interaction, and develop the watch into a personal voice assistant through good interaction experience.
For example: From the point of view of the most popular smart speakers, there are some specific problems when using at home: How to quickly wake up the speakers? How to use it from a long distance? So it would be very convenient to use a smart watch worn on your wrist to solve the problem of fast and long-distance voice interaction.
At the same time, the watch will give full play to the assistant function through voice interaction, such as voice conversations to set alarm clocks, event planning alerts, and weather queries. More likely, the voice interaction function will be maximized to become an intelligent voice control terminal, through the voice interaction on your wrist watch, further directly control other intelligent devices.
• Give full play to the attributes of human contact and collect kinds of data from human
One of the biggest differences between smart watches and mobile phones is that smart watches are close to human skin. Data from sleep monitoring, calories burning, heart rate, continuous monitoring of dynamic blood pressure, ECG, blood oxygen or skin electrical can be measured by a wearable device but not by a mobile phone. After collecting these continuous data, the watch can generate a series of analysis reports on the APP and then give relevant guidance and suggestions.
Wearable devices in the future, from the big concept, are more capable to show the information of human body in digital and cloud form through close contact with skin.
• Call reminder & Camera
The smart watch should have a separate camera that can take photos and make video calls. Reminder calls, declining calls and answering calls will all be required.
• NFC
It has a variety of NFC interfaces, which not only support the use of swiping bus card, access control card, currency payment, fingerprint identification, etc., but also can interact with mobile phone, computer, Pad and other terminal devices to display information, check and send simple operation commands.
• Powerful & Accurate GPS and Battery life
Many functions of the smart watch have not been developed yet, which are affected by the battery capacity. When the GPS is turned on, the battery life will decline rapidly. However, smart watches have a great demand for the function of GPS. Accurate GPS positioning plus voice interaction actually can be used as a navigation. Battery life should be also increased to a week, half a month even one month, then the user experience will be greatly improved.
• Water-proof
Are you under water? No problem at all! IWOWNFIT P1 sport watch got a waterproof rating of 50 meters under water. Swimming or surfing would be nothing difficult.
• Multiple Connections
Multiple connections are required and also can be freely switched depending on the usage scene. Therefore, WiFi exists when there is a network, and Bluetooth can be used when there is no network. Since phone cards will be added later, they will also be able to support 5G/4G/3G networks.
• Other basic functions
Step counting, sleep monitoring, heart rate measuring are some basic functions. It is boldly predicted that smart watches will gradually replace medium low-end watches and bracelets on the market, leaving only some high-end watches, which gradually giving full play to the truly intelligent and wearable features.
Of course, what you choose will depend on what you need. Smart watches are not there to replace your phone - they're there to complement it, and make your life that little bit easier.
