Filled with fresh fruit and vegetables, smoothie beverage is excellent and tasty way to recharge your energy with protein and healthy fats.
Smoothie or (“smoothy”) in the original translation actually means something smooth. The song "You're an Old Smoothie" from 1932 helped to popularize this title. Blender again was promoted in 1939. So back in 1940 in some cooking books there were recipes for smoothie. In that period smoothie was called every drink made in a blender. Even in 1970 in the recipes for smoothie was added frozen yogurt.
The first BANANA smoothie is dating from 1941 and contained 2 bananas and 2 and a half cups of milk. But even in 1960 during the revolution for a healthy diet smoothie became popular.
The basis of every smoothie is fruit blended with a small amount of liquid (water, juice, milk, yogurt, green tea ...) or ice. Commonly is used frozen fruit. Typically the base is a banana, then you can add other fruits like strawberries, blueberry, chokeberry, raspberries, kiwi, orange, etc., or vegetables such as spinach, carrots, broccoli, beets and the like. If you need a sweetener you can use honey.
Apart from being very tasty, smoothie are also and very healthy. Great for weight loss and prevention of many diseases and even for treatment as part of alternative medicine. Of course it is important not to add artificial sweeteners in order to really be healthy drinks.
So we can say that smoothie are healthy, refreshing, delicious drinks without sugar, yet with taste of high-calorie flavored ice cream, and furthermore are prepared for a few minutes. It is best to drink immediately after they are prepared. For smoothie people say that they are win-win drinks, excellent for children and pregnant women, for grown and for the elderly, sick and healthy, for athletes and intellectuals.
Basic rules for making Smoothie: - First put the wet ingredients (or some liquid at the bottom), then if you want protein powder and sweetener such as honey for example, and finally frozen fruit.
- If you want to drink smoothies put more fluid compared to other items.
- If you want to sip with a spoon, the ratio of liquid towards the other products should be 1: 2
- If you want to add the crushed seeds such as flaxseed, sunflower, pumpkin or sesame seeds, grind them first, and then add them to the pot where you do smoothies. If you just add them along with other foods, they will not grind completely you will feel cumbersome structure.
- You can add oat, rye, wheat or other cereal flakes, in which case you get a replacement for breakfast.
- If in smoothie drink you add peanut butter, cream, ice cream, fruit of the preserves, compote, canned fruit sweeteners, juice containing sugar and the like, then you get confused and refreshing drink that is very tasty, but it's not healthy and diet.

What a great and informative post! I love smoothies, especially those with red fruits like strawberries or black currant in them. I do always find the "it's so easy to make" argument a bit silly though. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but it allways takes tons of time to clean the darn blender. Still, I enjoy them if I have the time.
