This is the last post for this quest 1: I chose the topic food because that is my passion. I love to cook, to experiment in the kitchen and I love it when people get to enjoy good food. So for this quest as you all know we had to handle three tasks. Task one was to write about our journey, We then got out of our comfort zones and recorded a video, and the last task we had to analyze a post from another writer.
The last five days that I took to handle this quest have all been a learning experience. It might have been a quest to get into another learning experience but, I am so grateful to @anomadsoul and @guyfawkes4-20 for making this first and foremost a learning experience. A chance to push one's limit and rethink future plans. Most importantly I had a lot of fun.
Task 1: My Journey
The link to my long and also very short journey so far is here. I would want to say that this has been an exciting journey. From learning simple recipes from my mother to creating my own recipes now that I can teach her.
I started cooking simple recipes when I was young about 8 years old. When I joined campus, however, that is when I discovered my love for food. While I have not pursued cooking as a career, this is something that I love very much. Cooking helps me when I want to think especially when I am stressed. There is not a situation that I wouldn't be able to come up with something for people to enjoy and that is what I appreciate the most.
I discovered steemit and my passion for cooking blossomed even further, now I create more recipes so that I can share with people on my blog. I go a step further to ensure that these recipes are very simple so that anyone can replicate them and have a wonderful meal to enjoy
Memories brought about reflecting on my journey and lessons learned
We are told that every once in a while it is good to sit down, relax and look back; appreciate all the struggles, the efforts, mistakes, and successes. Writing this post brought back a lot of memories. Things that I have done and success that I have enjoyed along the way.
We have all come from far and looking back really helped me to gain the motivation to go on with this quest.
Task 2: Video Post: Learning experience getting out of my comfort zone.
The link to my video post can be found here. I put this off so many times during the week as I was a nervous wreck. Usually, when in the malls or public places and I see people take videos I admire their confidence and wonder whether that would be something I could do in front of a tone of people. Well, this weekend I took it upon myself and did exactly that. In the beginning, it was so tough I started sweating. My friend went ahead to laugh at me and I started laughing too. I guess that got me relaxed and eventually was able to record a few good clips.
Choosing the location
I wanted to maximize the crowd and the number of different people walking by. We still wanted to have not so much noise in the background so I could be heard as I spoke. We choose the local mall. This was also an advantage so we could go shopping before and after.
We also chose Sunday afternoon so as to have a crowd there. To make it more public
Editing the video and patience uploading it to dtube
This is the second video to edit. I am still learning how to use the video editing tools. So that is an addition to my skill. After that came the time to upload the video to dtube. I tried a couple of time and failed miserably. Eventually I had to do a little research, then compress the video and finally, I was able to upload. I had, however, to trade off the HD quality to ensure that the video got to dtube.
Task 3: Learning from others Posts
hereMy post analyzing @thegalavantgirl post can be found
I have done very little curation on steemit. Mostly for the air-clinic where we choose daily articles that touch on health issues. Usually, we are required to be objective in choosing the posts to be curated. The one that receives the most okays is curated. I have, however, not written a pos critique before. In this post, the writer introduced a recipe with a memory of stories she used to read when she was younger. Those stories had lessons in them something that she really appreciated. She then had a recipe for a blackberry cake which was very well articulated and easy to follow.
Looking at this post @thegalavantgirl had a very good structure that ensured the post to flow seamlessly from the story to the recipe. The story at the beginning was relatable. Narrated well and included illustrations to represent what the writer was talking about. This post had been well prepared, proofread and very organized.
The only thing I thought I would have added to the post were more photos.
Overall Lessons from the above tasks
The above three tasks as mentioned earlier were filled with lessons. What I loved most was that they got me out of a small rut that was developing. Now I am more energized than ever to keep writing and contributing to the growth of steemit.
I believe I will be recording more videos now. They might not always have my face in them but they will most definitely feature some recipes.
I would want to start writing more about my day job and I believe the time to start is now.
So What is next.
I have a plan as I illustrated in a graph in the first task. I would want to achieve the following in the next nine months.

My growth here on steemit has been facilitated mainly by communities. No man is an island they say. When you are a steemian that phrase really gains some meaning.
I hope that I will be selected for the summer camp and I am really looking forward to it.
For now, that is the simple story from me and I hope to see you next time when we discuss another very exciting topic.
Thank you for visiting my blog. Join me next time for more.
