SUNDAY'S ARE FOR THINKING | FUTURE OF STEEM, PROJECTS, STEEM-TIMES

This afternoon, I got to thinking of where I am presently on the steem blockchain and how much I need to get done to be able to be at a place of comfort, a place where my focus would no longer be to make a better future for myself and my family but also to impact the lives of the people around me.

I came on board this platform with just my amateur writing skills and I have been able to capitalize on that to carve a niche for myself, yet I do not limit myself to my niche. I seek, everyday, for ways to improve, to grow, to evolve into something better, something unique, something special.

It was this reason that led me to participate in the sndbox summercamp quest and luckily I have managed to get to the final quest. Weirdly, I am in a project that has a semblance to some of my future projections; ideas that I had kept on ice because I didn’t have the financial strength or resources to put them to effect.

The steem newspaper, I believe is a grand idea and I think that so far, we have touched the surface of what can be achieved with the paper and what that paper can mean to not just steem blockchain in particular but the crypto space in general.

I do not know of any news outlet that is basically focused on the steem blockchain. I do not mean blogs now, I mean newspapers or websites whose job is to articulate the activities of this particular blockchain, its token, its progress, its pitfalls, the community built around it, etc. This will be a unique piece of news publishing and I am part of its conception.

I find this to be an awesome truth of what can be achieved on the steem blockchain. For many like me, this is the place where ideas become reality because the materials needed to give ideas life are all here.

@exyle pointed out in one of his posts that enterprenuers would be the vehicle with which the steem blockchain will grow and that a time will come when most of the steem will be claimed by projects and less by content creators. I believe that this is a possibility and the earlier we embrace this truth and seek for ways to turn our knowledge, skill and resources into projects that will not only grow the platform as well as ourselves, the better for us.

This is not to say that anyone who loves to create content above all else will not see the reward for his or her labours. For even the projects and businesses that will be all over the steem blockchain will need people to use them, to create stuff on them, to subscribe to them. So it will be a win win for all of us.

I am writing all these because of the Steem newspaper project. I was thinking that right now, it is based off steemit but there will be a time when it will be published off steemit yet on the steem blockchain. A time when it would have its own token and means of rewarding subscribers, contributors, investors as well as the editorial board.

I do not say this lightly for there are presently no newspapers powered by a blockchain; a truly decentralized newspaper as at the time of writing this. This project means a whole lot more than posts and curation. It means breaking barriers in the cryptospace, pushing the steem blockchain into areas where it had been ignored, opening up the world of steem for non users to comprehend, participate and hunger for.

This is a project that can become bigger than the creators. I do not know if my postulations are in tandem with the vision of the team or if the quest creators have such vision behind their adding the steem newspaper project to the quest but I want to believe that what I see is a possibility.

I am proud to be a part of this project and I am ready to put in my best to see it become something worth mentioning alongside other profitable and essential projects that have so far been introduced to the steem blockchain.

To achieve this though, would demand lots of support from the steem community as well as trust that we, the editorial board, will be able to properly tell the steem blockchain story to the entire world and so put the blockchain technology in its rightful place among other technical innovations and financial commodities.

I do not know if I make sense in this article. This is an impromptu write up and I don’t expect anyone to agree with all of it but sometimes I just get the need to vent ideas as they come. I do not know what they would lead to, who they would inspire and what these thoughts of mine would mean to you and those who do not really know why they are here on this awesome platform besides to make money.

In addendum, I wish all the other projects on this final quests as well as the Steem Times project, the best of luck. Every one of you have given your best and the ideas behind each of these projects will be something to behold when they become reality.

Finally, I would like to thank @anomadsoul, @guyfawkes4-20, @voronoi and @hansikhouse for creating this quests and making it possible for those participating in the quests to find an opportunity to test, expand and utilize their potential.

Peace,

I think a newspaper is a very good idea, especially on the blockchain. The reporters would be held accountable by the users, a return to honest non weasley reporting on things of import. Not that someone somewhere does not want to know what color or style of panties khloe kardashian wears, but I could care less, and a reporter that thought that was news would likely not get that many views on his story in the paper and would be let go.(fired).
The other thing with having a newspaper is that we may actually get to have some functionality of the the posting area and increased HTML abilities enabled. A return to top, a next page function in line links, imagemap functions, and a host of other HTML code to make a really nice post and newspaper or magazine.

Hmm... You have dropped some ideas here that would be worth considering as we proceed, hopefully after approval of the project idea by the sndbox bros.

There is so much room for expansion and innovation here. So much ideas spilling out of the whole place. Thank you @bashadow.

I look forward to the day that more html formatting of post is allowed.

Very interesting thoughts @warpedpoetic and I also have been thinking similar things at times and wondering if the vision/direction of the steemit core devs are actually going to end up working for or against the majority of steemians who are here to create content. It is something that only time will tell. Nice venting my friend :-)

Yes, it is worth thinking about. I hope hivemind and communities would be able to give content creators some measure of support and encouragement though so that when the projects start flocking in, there would still he steem left for us in the reward pool.

Steemit is the next big thing

It is already a big thing, but we have to make it bigger.

Creating something off-the Steem Blockchain and merge it with Steem- A big catch later on my friend.

Well it's actually creating something on steemit then moving it out off steemit and making it a project on the steem blockchain itself.

Right now the paper is a steemit supported project but who knows, tomorrow it could become like Dlive, dsound and be hosted on the steem blockchain directly, with an access to steemit like other projects on the steem blockchain

Something quite interesting. I do not have enough information to be able to make a strong opinion on all this. I see where it is headed and it seems to be a good thing. The part that gets me a bit is

claimed by projects and less by content creators.

and this

projects and businesses that will be all over the steem blockchain will need people to use them, to create stuff on them, to subscribe to them

Now please correct me if I am wrong, like I stated, I don't know enough about it all to create some great assumptions and whatnot. But if we were to push it to be all newspapers and projects, for us content creators would then only write about these things to be able to advance? Like if that would be our job if we want to get anywhere once Steemit becomes just that? Not sure if that's something I agree with. But I am optimistic and thinking it won't just be that. As not all projects and such is for everyone. Perhaps I am not seeing/reading it right either.

Please inform this lost soul :)

it won't definitely be all projects and businesses, of course the content creator like you and I will still have a place on the platform. My worry and why I see the need for us to be invested is the reward pool.

Projects will get more steem rewards than content creators and considering that the pool is fixed that will mean less for content creators.

Again, projects on the steem blockchain like steemit would be businesses with staffing and all that so it means something sort of support from the project developers for those who use these ideas.

I don't know what community and hivemind will bring but Smt will be mostly project driven. That I am sure of. Of we look at the tokens crested on the bitshares chain, platforms, beans, Whaleshares etc, they are mostly utilized by projects and it is through these projects that content creators or users of the project platform can access the tokens. I see steem doing the same.

I do not see it as a bad thing because investment is needed for the blockchain to grow. How it affects those of us who use steemit, is the question that I can't answer.

That is exactly what I am wondering.

How it affects those of us who use steemit

I guess we will see what it brings. I don't believe we have the control on where things go, especially me being so little on the platform. So the only thing I can do is wait and see :) Take part where I can. :P

Very nice friend, good luck for your future
