First goal = 6 minutes
The big result of the weekend was Manchester City’s 5-0 thumping of Liverpool. While it is tempting to focus on Sadio Mane’s red card, more troubling for Liverpool is the ease to which they capitulated and accepted defeat at the Etihad Stadium. While Liverpool cannot be accused of being flat track bullies, Jurgen Klopp’s men do lack steel in games where their backs are against the wall. I remember the days of Rafa Benitez. I’m sure if he’d have gone down to ten men, 1-0 down, away from home against a top side, his first course of action would have been to shore up the defence. Benitez wasn’t adverse to playing 4 full backs, parking the bus and looking to steal a point from a set-piece. As progressive as Klopp’s football is, there is a time to win (or draw) ugly or face losing even uglier.
The much maligned Danny Welbeck scored a brace for Arsenal as they bounced back from their pre-international break humiliation at Anfield with a convincing win over Bournemouth. While it was only Bournemouth, Welbeck’s goals should be enough to put the ‘bambi-on-ice’ jibes... well on ice. Not to be outdone by his North London rival, Harry Kane also scored a brace in Tottenham’s 3-0 win away to Everton. Kane notched up his 100th and 101st goal for Spurs. Leicester City old boy, N’Golo Kante came back to haunt his former club scoring the decisive goal for Chelsea as they squeaked a 2-1 away win. And finally the Manchester United juggernaut has not exactly been halted but has been slowed with a 2-2 draw away to Stoke.

Good post! I enjoyed Rafa's Liverpool as well, but if 'his team' went to 10 men, he had Javier Mashereno, Xabi Alanso, and Steve Gerrard to shore up defensively... Never replaced Machereno or Alanso, in my opinion...
Let's not forget that Man City has the highest paid starting 11 in the business! But it was a drubbing! Liverpool lost their way...
