Newcastle had a Premier League fixture against Wolves on Sunday 9th December. It was an eventful match with Newcastle picking up a red card and Wolves seizing victory with a late goal.
The scoring was started in the 17th minute by Diogo Jota. This gave the visiting side (Wolves) the lead, but this was short lived as Newcastle we're back on leveled terms six minutes after the initial goal by Diogo Jota. It was Ayoze Perez who scored for Newcastle in the 23rd minute.
Newcastle we're then put at a disadvantage in the second half, when defender DeAndre Yeldin was shown a red card and sent off by referee Mike Dean in the 57th minute. The home team was left to play with only 19 men for the remaining 33 minutes of the game.
Newcastle however were looking like they would manage to end the game with at least a draw, but that was until Doherty scored in the 4th minute of extra time. The ball came off the keepers hand after saving a shot from Jota, with Doherty meeting it and turning it in with a header.
The game was closed with Wolves taking a 2-1 victory over Newcastle. This victory saw Wolves move up to the 10th position in the Premier League and Newcastle stayed at the 15th position.
