Today I had a match for the 23s against Cardiff City. We drew 3-3.
I didn’t start this match I started on the bench, watching from the bench we had dominate the game for the best part of 30minutes going 2-0 with 2 good goals. When I’m on the bench I like to watch the opposition players on how they manage the ball offensively and defensively, offensively they were undynamic showing no rotation and movement which would mean when I came on I wouldn’t have to run as much but use my mind to gain the upper hand. Defensively they like the battle and the scrap so I wouldn’t want to play in there hands and battle with them I would just have to get on the ball and move it much more.
I came on with 20 minutes to go and with virtually my first touch I had scored my second goal in the league for the 23s, couldn’t have been a better start that I was hoping for. My goal I felt was taken well I slotted past the keeper well. During the course of the game I felt I should’ve gotten on the ball more seeing as I have got that confidence from the goal, I could’ve used this to make my forward runs with the ball much more positive. In many occasions I was 1v1 with the opposition defender and I didn’t use it well by not beating him as I should’ve. At this point the game was 3-1 a lead that we should’ve kept, sloppy defending from us and desire from Cardiff who had a side with people around my age came back to bring the game level when they probably shouldn’t have.
Congrats on the goal Brendan! Coming on and making an impact where it counts at the higher level. Big things for 2018!
Thanks
