Certainly no Galatasaray fan had expected such a clear final result. Especially due to the fact that they are still eagerly waiting for a striker transfer. But the record champion was convincing in all respects. Lending player Henry Onyekuru scored three goals, Sinan Gümüs two and Badou Ndiaye one. "I scored two goals, which of course makes me very happy. It wasn't a hat-trick, but Henry did it, I am very proud of him", Gümüs praised his neighbour after the final whistle. Gümüs continued: "I don't set myself any goals. I look from game to game. Who knows how many goals I'll score in the coming game?"
In addition to his breathtaking volley goal in the 86th minute, Ndiaye was also able to prepare the 2-0 against the capitals. The 28-year-old loaner from English second-league club Stoke City seems to be particularly proud of his goal yesterday. "We had a good day. This is a very good result for us for which we have worked a lot. Besides my goal I was able to prepare another one, of which I am very proud". Everton loaner Onyekuru said of his goal celebration: "This was actually for a friend from Senegal who is also a striker.
Co coach Hasan Sas represented Fatih Terim on the sidelines for the last time. In the short press conference after the match, the 42-year-old explained that his team had prepared intensively for the match. "The team's energy could already be felt during training. We are happy that the training performance had an effect on our game." There was also the good news from Sas, which many Galatasaray fans are waiting for: "We currently have twelve foreign players. Both the board and we are working hard. We want two players for the attack. No one needs to worry about not working here. There will be two more strikers."
Meanwhile, the traditional Ankara club is in chaos. The yellow-blue ones try to keep up with the Süper Lig, the point difference to the relegation ranks is only four points. Ankaragücu's new coach Mustafa Kaplan will be particularly hard hit by the defeat. The 51-year-old signed in the capital just under a week ago and had to concede a scuffle in his debut game. Nevertheless, Kaplan is convinced that his team will be quick to get its act together: "The result doesn't suit us. But we'll correct that as soon as possible. There are no major internal problems, and our fans should continue to support us."
