Despite being under no obligation to join the ever growing number of social media platforms which reward users with crypto, a distinct sense of FOMO ensures that I never miss out and as if there were not already too few hours in the day, now there are less. Not because I am cross posting but because I am doing my best to curate on each of these platforms while responding to the growing number of comments.
Whaleshares & Weku are software forks of Steem so they feel familiar and easy to navigate.
But then we have Yours.org & Minds.com
...which are nothing like Steemit.
Yours.org uses Bitcoin Cash as their currency with a pay wall system, while Minds.com has its own native token and a much more friendly looking interface.
On the video side of things we have DTube & DLiveTV which work well alongside YouTube.
And let's not forget BitTube which rewards based on number of minutes viewed.
Mobile apps
Apps are a logical next step for this market. We all know how many people are connected to the internet only through their phone.
Just yesterday I learned about WhatsAround (thanks @homeartpictures) which is one such app. You can download the android version here
Read more about WhatsAround here
And what about Appics? Grown from one of the original steem whales @sirwinchester this was the first mobile app in development.
The tip of the iceberg
I have no doubt there are many more I've not mentioned here and even more still in development.
So, is it any wonder I am feeling overwhelmed?
I share this feeling now so that anyone else experiencing it may know they are not alone!
If you want to see exactly how many crypto social media platforms there are now take a look at this list from @borishaifa
Community first
In the end it is the community which makes us feel most welcome where we are likely to stick around the most.

Hi, Sam! Thank you, interesting information. You may also haму a look here https://levelnaut.com/2017/12/19/cryptocurrency-social-networks-list/ You will be surprised, I think ;-)
Wow! Thank you for your great work putting this list together.
That is amazing to see.
Thanks for the great summary .
No I don't even look at any of those - I quit fakebook over three years ago and never spend any time on any of those sites beyond setting up accounts to secure my frot handle.
Apart from Steemit the only site that looks of potential interest to me is Gab
https://gab.com/frot
That joke on your homepage is brilliant! Had me in stitches. Won't be telling it to my muslim mates though ;)
Thank you for this informative post! Resteemed to review the next day. I hope I can join you in whaleshares. How do I join?
There should be a sign up button in there somewhere: https://whaleshares.io/
See you there!
I am still waiting for the account approval notice by email.
which platform you think is the best interns of usability, community and potential ?
That's a big question!
Sorry to say I've not had enough experience yet on these platforms to be able to answer that.
Whatever happens Steem will always feel like home to me. The place where my life in crypto began ;)
