Social Democracy in America Part 14 In Closing, A Society With Little Empathy

As Social Democracy and Democracy itself have decayed, what is left is a return to pre-Social Democracy third world living standards with few wealthy, an anemic middle-class, and vast squalor. People are now working two and three jobs and still living in poverty.

In the past, such a crisis would have produced mass outcry and humanitarian movements but today, it goes largely ignored. Child hunger and child homelessness used to be a focus for the politically minded. Now, these problems are on only a small percent's radar.

The "good old days" when a single income could raise a family, buy a house, have a nice vacation, and live with dignity are not remembered for their Socially Democrat policies of taxes on corporations and the extreme wealthy, nor the days of tuition-free college, non-profit health insurance, high union membership and an industrial society.

This documentary series is designed to be an outreach to the politically uninitiated.
It is meant to pierce the academic echo chamber and reach the majority of society that only seems to get information that is either truthful but wonky and arcane or easily digestible but propaganda and thoroughly dishonest. Afterall, Democracy is based on the majority. The small esoteric group of academics and assorted leftists is not a majority and needs to cultivate outreach beyond their circles.

It is therefore generalized to avoid going deep into the minutiae, with the attempt at framing the issues honestly within the confines of explaining it to people of all education levels or lack thereof.
