As a US citizen it is pretty damn depressing. The US is going to get hit harder by corona virus than any other developed country, and it is obvious to see it coming. You made the point about how US citizens won't be able to afford to go to doctors and get tested. Another factor is that most US workers either don't have ANY, or have very limited sick leave. Even leaving out trips to the doctor and cost of medical care, most American workers also can't even stay home from work when sick which is of course the most basic step to stopping the spread of a disease. On top of that is the American work culture which makes even requesting time off for sickness a very risky move, as many employers actually fire workers for same. Finally, the types of workers for whom the above factors are most true are workers in the service industry who are most likely to come into contact with large numbers of the public in the course of their jobs. I am not optimistic, at all, in US ability to handle this virus and keep it from becoming a massive epidemic.
