Simple- another Facebook.
I've been telling people left, right and center to join Steemit, but the reality is that it's a completely different platform and I myself can't use it the way I use #Facebook, let alone as a substitute.
What I would need in order to ditch Facebook completely is-
a. Direct interaction with people I actually know around the globe. Love it or hate it, FB Messenger does exactly that. It's diabolic but hey, it's convenient and people will always compromise for conveniency. AND-
b. Interaction within closed groups. This is the best feature of Facebook. Finding like-minded people who share valuable information in closed groups has become indispensable. Want to find a holistic doctor? Ask in your local holistic group. Want to know where to go with your worldschooled child while visiting China? Ask in your gigantic worlschoolers group.

Steemit will continue to improve and grow, and it's a shame it's too early for it to take over at this pivotal time, when more and more people are opening their eyes about the nature of some social media platforms... But at the moment, there just isn't another Facebook, at least not for the majority of people who look for a convenient, user-friendly, uncomplicated platform that offers connection with real people. Until then, #Steemit will run as a parallel platform to FB, but not as a substitute. I'm hopeful that things will change soon, but more of us need to push for the change to take place.
