These famous social networks are recovering after having suffered this Wednesday the worst service drop in their history, which also affected their two messaging platforms, Messenger and WhatsApp, and Instagram, the social network for sharing photos.
Some of the functions of Mark Zuckerberg's company platforms stopped working properly in various parts of Europe, Asia and America.
According to a map prepared by DownDetector, the failures affected users from countries such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, the United Kingdom and Spain, but were mainly concentrated in the east of the United States and in northern Europe.
It is estimated that the problems began around 16:00 GMT on Wednesday and lasted at least 14 hours.
The last time Facebook had a fall of this magnitude was in 2008, when the site had 150 million users, compared to the 2.3 billion users it has now.
"We are aware that some people have problems accessing familiar Facebook applications," the company posted on its Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.
"We are working to solve the problem as soon as possible," he added, without offering further details. He has not yet offered more information about what happened.
Hours later, the company announced that it had recovered through a Twitter tweet illustrated by a GIF from American television presenter Oprah Winfrey.
