Japan is a tiny country with a lot of people and simply no one has any clear idea what is going on... For centuries family , respect and responsibility as well as duty and commitment were central to the Japanese culture.

Today the Japanese are almost rioting over Christmas day and Valentines day ! ! !
Well Christmas is about lovers and the Japanese do not do lovers . . . (article)
Valentines Day is about women treating themselves since females actively avoid males . . . (article)

The Japanese government has little time for such crazy social issues ; in fact the government is panicking.
Today the IN thing is the youth culture of Japan is no sex ; ever ! ! ! Celibacy is the new social norm. Despite government incentives to try and lure people into sexual relationships the youthful society is not having any sex.
Lets just say the (article) below might explain some of the more attractive alternatives . . .

One way countries with low birth rates and sexual apathy is to legislate more holidays. Here is the idea ; people at home are not having sex enough so governments invent vacation days so couples may and should travel , the idea is if people are not at home they are more likely to have sex ! ! ! [Truly ; and you say Governments never think of their citizens , shame on you ; ) ]

What this means is no sex = no babies and thus Japan faces a long lived aging population and this is already putting a huge burden on society. Remember being law abiding and image conscious is about traditional Japanese values. Yet today more elderly are forced into crime than the youth. Today's Japanese police are catching shoplifters and this causes social isolation when the criminal is disowned by their own relatives ! ! !

All these crazy attitudes lead to such social isolation from stigmas such as unable to find a relationship or violating societies laws or whatever that with a policy of family respectability the government has set aside official places (including signs) for people to commit suicide . . .

And ; just when you were thinking life could not get any crazier , right ! ! !

Hey, found your post interesting ... who would of thought!

I was completely unaware of this.
Strange and interesting post, I'll be following!

This is sad, our manufactured consumer society is killing us. I love Japanse culture, especially their Buddhist iconography and philosophy. This phenomena is not isolated incident, the westernized world population is declining for a variety of reasons.

So true ; much of the Western world is not morally and financially bankrupt . . . : (

We can change this through changing ourselves. I simply don't consume stuff I don't need and only spend time on things that will help my community, family and self.

I try and comment on events to highlight important social issues. Things that maybe not everyone sees as a problem issue , increasing awareness can work to alter attitudes : )

The no sex thing is crazy, I wonder what is behind that whole idea.

Agreed , It seems a very dramatic way to get some extra government vacation days off : )
Who knows how the young think ; I am the " dark side " of 50 . . . ; )
