Solos Solar Array production stats – February 2025

in #solar2 days ago

Last month was quite snowy, many days we just left the panels covered so I expect my solar input was lower this for February, but regardless we still made 906.7 kWh with the bad weather. The days where there was a lot of ice when the grid went down we used the generators quite a bit to keep enough power coming in. Hopefully in the next month or two we will start to see a rise in solar input from the changing of seasons. I expect February to be one of the worst performing months for my array, but I guess time will tell.

Array A production stats:

PV: 237.1 kWh
Load: 1876.3 kWh
Grid Import: 1748 kWh
Battery Charge: 135 kWh
Battery Discharge: 121.9 kWh

*combined stats are different from screenshot from single inverter.

Array A build:

System Size = 5.5 kWp DC
Panels = Sungoldpower Monocryalline 60 cell (12 Panels, 450 Watts each)
Mounting System = Brightmount EG4 screwed into 6x6 timbers
Wiring: 1x 8 AWG 19 strand PV direct bury wire pair
Inverters = 2x Sol-Ark 15k all-in-ones (240V)
Estimated First Year Production
7,408 kWh

Battery Backup = 48 3.2v EVE LF280 LiFePO4 280AH batteries
Battery Management system = Daly Smart BMS 16S 48V 500A
Battery Capacity = 45.696 kWh (840AH)

Propane Generator = Briggs and Stratton Power Protect 26kw

Array B production stats:

PV: 669.6 kWh
Load: 894.4 kWh
Grid Import: 339.7 kWh
Battery Charge: 386.9 kWh
Battery Discharge: 306.3 kWh

Array B build:

System Size = 9 kWp DC
Panels = Sungoldpower Monocryalline 60 cell (20 Panels, 450 Watts each)
Mounting System = Brightmount EG4 screwed into 6x6 timbers
Wiring: 2x 8 AWG 19 strand PV direct bury wire pair
Inverters = Sol-Ark 15k all-in-one (240V)
Estimated First Year Production
14,815 kWh

Battery Backup = 48 3.2v LiFePO4 290AH batteries (unknown brand)
Battery Management system = Daly Smart BMS 16S 48V 250A
Battery Capacity = 47.328 kWh (870AH)

Propane Generator = Briggs and Stratton Power Protect 22kw

Totals combined for all arrays:

906.7 kWh (0.90 MWh) produced for the month of February

I hope it will be smooth in the use of solar electricity We in our country are not free to use Product

Are you totally off grid then? I was under the impression you were just supplementing with the solar in the hopes of eventually going off grid. That is cool if you are though and good that you have the generators to make up for those times when you need them. I've felt like the winter weather has been slowly pushing further south over the last couple of decades. It could be more of a thing for your down there these hard months.

No I am not, we still draw power from the grid. If I wanted to be off grid completely I would need to make sure I do not cook at night or run anything.. And still then probably not big enough batteries to keep us going all night with the usual appliances. Just enough for emergencies to keep the fridge going and such.

During the day though we do get quite a bit of power, but not completely off grid yet.

The snow was pretty intense this year.

Ah okay, that makes sense.

not bad stats at all! How many panels do you have?

Have to say that I was also plesantly surprised here about what the production was even though the weather was quite harsh and the days are short

Thanks.. 32 panels in total.

Ya with the shorter month and winter days, you surely should see Feb underperforming but you are headed to spring now. Good news is we are gaining 2-3 minutes of daylight per day in March so you willl be inspired by the results seeing as Feb set the bar so low.

In the summer time when the days are so long and there is no need to heat, you must be in such a surplus with your setup.

Do you have the ability to combine stats from 6 months in a chart so you can see that bull run of energy collected?

Yep, the loss of light and being lower on the horizon is making the solar power production lower for sure.

Looking forward to the summer when we get much more light. But we run the air condisioners at that time, which use quite a bit. But I think we will still have surplus on array b.. I already do during the winter :-)

I probably can using spreadsheets.

It's not the best month for solar, but we got some nice sunshine here right at the end. I will compile my stats to post soon. We have just passed a year since it was installed.

Yeah we are deep into the winter right now so it is what it is.

Looks good! I need to find a way to combine mine too.

Despite the snowy month of February, the power plant was still able to produce 906.7 kWh, which is certainly an amazing achievement. Oh, and hopefully production will increase as the season changes, right?

Yep, as the days get longer we will get more solar power.

Great effort sir

Hope everything goes smoothly ❤️

me too.. so far so good

It was a great activity, hopefully everything can be the best 💪 have a nice day, my friend 🙏

Ah thank you, hope you do too.

Good job my friend, have a nice day ❤️❤️

much appreciated, hope you have a good day too.

Nice array! ☺️👊 I plan to have some solar setup in the future, when I am settles in philippines later. (although, I never actually did anything solar but maybe charge my phone that way) :P

Ah thanks.... well I hope you get your solar array one day.

Suistainable Project. I will made this at home

Nice, best of luck with yours.

Despite the bad weather conditions, the 906.7 kWh production is very good. I hope you exceed your expectations. I should start solar energy production as soon as possible.

Indeed, I was expecting more of a loss.

Looking forward to seeing yours when it gets going.

Well,,maybe this month is not the best for solar,of course I hope all will be fine my friend, keep up the spirit💪😊

Yeah its winter here so indeed its not.. but spring should be here soon.. and then summer.

You know that I will have to see their cost price in the international market of solar panels, because in Cuba 🇨🇺 every day there are electricity blackouts.

And these should be of help, I see that they generate kWh necessary for your things in the house and farm. I find it quite useful bro @solominer. 👌

Greetings and excellent productive Sunday crack !!!! 😊

I would think solar would be a big benefit to yall there. Yep.. really glad to have mine.. hope you have a good sunday too.
