Canceled plans are most likely the most common thing to happen to a group of friends. The excitement of planning the place to go to and food to eat, maybe even planning the outfits. But then, the set day arrives and suddenly there are some more things to do at work. The outcome? Gotta do it some other time.
That's what happened today. My friend can't make it because of her tight schedule. Having to work for longer hours and as a mom, a girl needs sleep too.
So, as someone who does not like being cooped up at home during weekends, I decided to go out alone.
Being raised as a catholic, it's normal to start any plans on Sunday attending the mass...
A huge crowd like this is normal on Sunday. The huge church can't accommodate all the people so they put an extra screen and speakers outside. You can just squeeze in between people to have a spot to listen to today's homily.
Bracelets, rosaries, and other stuff being sold.
Traffic... as always.
More traffic.
After the mass, I decided to go to a nice place to relax and cool down from the heat. Found this cozy little oasis in front of the church.
A well-deserved Ube latte and cookies and cream cheesecake
(because life didn't end when my friends ditched me).
And as a Filipino, the first thing I would say as a must-try flavor of any dessert in the Philippines would be Ube. A purple-colored creamy goodness often placed on top of a halo-halo? The best. Ube latte? Superb. Things like this, good food, and good places can light up someone's day.
The quiet ambiance of the coffee shop allowed me to breathe and relax as I contemplated today's events.
Sometimes a small mishap can affect your whole mood... It's up to you how you deal with it. You can stay where you are and embrace the negative feeling or you can acknowledge it and decide how to make it a positive experience.
I arrived at the cafe feeling disappointed, I left feeling good about myself.
Made me realize that sometimes we are one decision away from an entirely different experience. We all just have to make a conscious decision that we are going to do it no matter what happens. @terganftp
Thanks for tagging me. Appreciated the run down and yeah, traffic is awful so now I have a post when people ask me just how crowded Manila is :)
