Winter is upon us. The birds who fill the air with song have gone south. Trees have shed leaves exposing a their dendrite like skeleton to remind us all at the final price we pay to witness the constant self becoming chaotic beauty that is life. At no other time of year can the universe shift so much of our collective conscious to death, yet it’s precisely the time when we rebellious human choose to affirm life, love, and community. Kwanzaa , a celebration of the first fruits of the year, Christmas, christians celebrating their favorite person, Chanaka the most joyous celebration of fuel efficiency, there are so many cultural interpretations of how best to observe that we are collectively at our darkest point. Even economist with their rational veneer are exposed as crazed eye ecclesiastical mystic preaching manically of how the economy is in the black and how we will prosper yet another season around the sun because the divine pantheon who sit atop the federal reserve are pleased with our monetary sacrifice. We are ready to receive more light and the universe is ready to gift us more photons.
