Human face monument
The memorial to the victims of political repression was opened in 1996. Its author is the sculptor Ernst Neizvestny and the Magadan architect Kamil Kozaev.
The sculptor made the central monument in the shape of a human face. “Wrinkles” on the forehead, eyebrows and nose form a cross, a “tear” flows from the left eye in the form of human heads. Instead of the right eye, there is a prison barred window with prison number 937 and a bell that rings when a strong wind blows on the hill. On the reverse side of the monument, one can see bronze figures of a prisoner crucified on a cross and a crying woman. In the internal premises, a prison cell and a slaughter area where the repressed worked were recreated.
