Did you grow up around horses? I often wish I was exposed to them more as a kid.
AlphaHippie I started riding since grade 6. Quite a few of my family had horses and played Polo . I love the connection and trust a rider builds with his horse.
dr.ar Yeah, that's why I wish I grew up around them. They are so powerful that they intimidate me a bit.
dr.ar I do plan to learn to ride. I actually travel around helping new homesteaders out and am looking for a ranch to volunteer with, so I can learn more things like that.
dr.ar I'm in Nebraska and am a Jack of all Trades. I also recycle for a living and know how to acquire materials for them to build with for free. So, I donate building materials or help them find free or cheap stuff, help them build what they need and learn new things from them from the experience.
AlphaHippie if there's a place closer to you, try taking riding lessons, it's a useful skill to have and you will love the connection. Plus it's a very good experience and exercise.

I wish i did. Their names were Chalet, Ginger and Sam. Chalet was the mellow one, you had to watch out for Ginger because she would try to knock you out of the saddle by going under trees with low limbs and sam was a rodeo horse with a strong attitude and duper fast. He was a barrel racer. I liked them all for different reasons
Billdoug I like how you remember their names and personalities, wow. Its very hard to have a favorite when you like different aspects of them .
