One of the main developers of the popular Geth client for the Ethereum network said that the client is almost ready to transfer the network to the Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm. The code base of the Go-Ethereum client is literally one step away, "in one major release" from being fully ready to switch to PoS, Peter Szilagyi said in an interview with TrustNodes. Moreover, the necessary code has already been actually developed, now the team is only testing this "major release", says Silady. As part of the transition of the Ethereum network to the PoS algorithm, it will be necessary to redirect RPC procedure calls from miners using the old Proof-of-Work algorithm to the Proof-of-Stake algorithm stakes. It is expected that the transition will take place this summer, but a significant part of the developers believe that the procedure will take some more time. "We will try to carry out the merger by mid-July. This is possible, but in a fairly busy schedule and leaving no time to solve possible problems ... it is quite possible to postpone the deadline. The main thing is that everything goes well," says Eth 2.0 developer Ben Edgington. In early January, Vitalik Buterin said that the Ethereum 2.0 project was only half ready. Now the team is devoting itself to the stage of the merger - the transition to PoS. But there are still several stages of the Eth 2.0 launch ahead.
