Bitwala claims that this is the largest case of blockchain-start-up shareholding sales in Germany.
The investment round was headed by Sony Financial Ventures and NKB Group. Also, acting investors of the project represented by Earlybird and coparion took part in it.
The received financing of Bitwala is going to be used to expand the client base, hire employees and open Bitcoin accounts for business.
Bitwala provides crypto-banking service with a built-in bitcoin purse, debit card and an opportunity to trade. The company serves retail customers across the European Economic Area and has carried out €11 million worth of Bitcoin exchanges since the launch of the option in late 2018.
Last October, Bitwala announced the launch of a "blockchain bank account" service in partnership with solarisBank.
In the same month, Sony introduced its contactless multi-purpose hardware crypto-purse.
