SOUND MIND, SOUND BODY

in #sound7 years ago

It recently came to my attention that few of my friends usually experiences anxiety and seasonal depression around this time each year. Some overwhelmed by Christmas shopping, health issues, lack of money, thinking about unfinished shores and businesses and so on and so forth as the year is running to an end. In as much as anxiety and depression are very common and normal human reaction to life's stressful situation, these can be aggravated by one's own lack of planning, doing too much, distorted and or irrational thinking/actions. I use some measures each year to guide myself into not falling into these traps as my friends and these have worked well. Taking it easy during holiday season, using some time management techniques where necessary, thinking rationally, spending wisely, finding a little time for relaxation or physical exercise and lastly, getting help when needed.

I always remember the words of William James, 1800 psychologist; " These, then, are my last words to you: Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help you create that fact." Also remember that, "the mind is its own place, and in itself can make heaven out of Hell, and a hell of Heaven."___John Milton
