I think it would be nice to establish a human colony elsewhere, for various reasons. But trying to achieve this goal based on emotional reactions is not the good thing to do. We need to carefully think and organize the project, before doing anything.
I didn't know about those guys planning to go elsewhere in space as a consequence of the climate changes, but that is one of the most craziest idea I have ever read about. I am totally with you on this point!
Apparently it has become a "thing" when people hang out and talk about geopolitics. The whole Trump/Paris debacle made many liberals paranoid.
