Spanish Invasion

This is what the #spanish trending page looks like today…

I am glad so many Spanish users are joining the platform, Steemit seems to be a big hit in Latin America. However, I can imagine how this can be annoying for non-spanish speaking steemians, so how do you think we can filter this in a better way?

I personally believe that when we have the “communities” feature Steemit will be more organized.

What are your thoughts on the Spanish invasion?

Reminds me of a comic i read when i was a child - about Herman Cortez :))

Great news As STEEMIT is now Viral and spreading like virus through internet and offline events too.

Spanish language is very nice! You must learn Spanish!!

Vamos a comernos Steemit!
Spanish is the third most speaken language in the world!

Así es!

We're all waiting for communities to arrive. They're just around the corner so I don't think putting manpower to bandaid this issue is needed.

And this is kind of positive issue to be had, Steemit can be a big success far easier within Latin Americas userbase where even smaller rewards can be a big deal. So it's in our best interest to be supportive of this "invasion" you speak of :)

Edit: I just noticed you already are using Spanish filter tag. So it's all good and working.

I do not believe a filter is the best answer. It certainly helps, but these people have voices that I believe want to be heard. Perhaps a means of translation would be better..

I think a floating flag thingy can do the trick

My Trending page doesn't look like that. You have selected the tag 'spanish', so of course it's full of Spanish posts :-P

It was recently shown that they are the most active non-English tag, but I wouldn't be surprised if that has changed at this point (East Asian traffic grew several times over, it doesn't seem that Latin American traffic has done the same).

I scrolled down a bit to make my point but it is the global trending page.. It would be interesting to see how many of the top 100 posts are in spanish, maybe I will do that right now hehe.. give me a sec.

Oh Crap! you are right.. there a lot of spanish posts however.. I see that 64K SBD has been distributed on the #spanish tag alone..

Thanks for the heads up, I will modify it.

Its good, and we should welcome them with open arms.

In all honestly I think as long as the content keeps being curated as effectively as it has been done . Then the spanish community has a lot of future!

I live in Argentina, so I don't have much choice but to share Steemit with people who live here.

Hand Raised

Yes, I brought two of them on board this week. @jhelbich and @facu <--both fine contributors so far :)

Yup, I imagine it is annoying for Spanish Speakers, Korean, Chinese, German etc find it annoying that the site is dominated by English speakers as well.

🍒 I agree that if you can only read one language, you should only see the articles in your preferred language, Steemit still needs to work on the filters, maybe they should set up some manual filters, but in the meantime.......disfruta la invasión hispana and say hello to the Korean Invasion also ;)

Been saying for months we need to be able to follow/mute tags exactly for this reason

I am glad so many Spanish users are joining the platform, Steemit seems to be a big hit in Latin America.

This is great news for the Spanish Speaking Community and Steemit itself.

All I can say is ¡¡¡maravilloso!!! :0)

To the infinite, my experience in this community has been wonderful, and posts in Spanish have been growing a lot in recent months, but there is still more people to speak Spanish. Thanks for the support @chitty motivates us to move forward!

I am happy for them. Especially for those folks that live in Venezuela.
