Hi! I am trying to learn Spanish, and I figured writing about it could help some of you learn it as well!

Today, I am going to learn a few phrases that have very close meaning. If I learn them together, I am hoping that I will challenge myself not to confuse them because I will be focusing on their subtle differences early on in my learning.

  • Que haces? - What are you doing?
  • Que pasa? - What is happening?
  • Como te va? - How is it going?
  • Que tal? - How are you?

In case you are wondering, this is how I plan to learn these phrases as distinct from one another:

  • "Que haces?" - My cat is quite mischievous, so I always ask him what he is doing. I am going to ask him "Que haces?" alllll day.
  • "Que pasa?" - This has much more urgency than than previous phrase. It makes me think of emergency situations or something unexpected is happening. So if I see a thunder storm outside, hear a fire truck, etc., I will think of "Que pasa?"
  • "Como te va" - This phrase is asking about a thing or and event's progress.
  • "Que tal?" - This phrase is asking about a person's well-being.

I will be posting between 1 and 5 new phrases each day, and I will include grammatical aspects later on. Stay tuned, friends!
