We all want to be good at something, preferably exceptionally good, but sometimes the world today has so many options that we do not know what we should focus our energy on. The truth is that when it comes to discovering the gifts we speak in the plural, because in reality humans are multidimensional beings with multiple qualities and abilities. That is, you do not have a single gift; Actually, you have several. But, how to discover what these gifts are? Answering that last question implies a path of self-discovery. Maybe that's why sometimes we prefer to evade the question, that is, we are not ready to face and assume what we really are. However, by evading we only postpone the discovery of our true self. If you are ready to find your gifts and assume them, then ask yourself the following:
1. What do you love?
What is it that makes you feel that time flies when you do it, and when it ends it leaves you wanting more? Think about it a bit and if you doubt, ask who else knows you. Make a list of these things, what are your hobbies, your passions, what you do because you want and not because you have to.
2. What do you hate?
Generally, when something displeases us we also evade it, that is, we do everything possible to avoid thinking about it. But part of knowing you is accepting what you do not like and reflecting on the reasons why you dislike it. Make a list of these things; do not try to be conciliatory, write them as you feel them, the point is that if this is an exercise of autonomy, only the truth will be useful.
3. Take both lists and ask the following questions
Start with the list of things you love to do and examine the following, until you reach an answer that is "yes" or "no":
- Would you do this even if they did not pay you a penny for it?
- Would doing this inspire you daily?
- Does this feel like something natural to you?
- Does time fly when you do this activity?
- How could you make money doing this?
Human being is very complex; sometimes, we don’t know what do we love or dislike. We like one thing one day, but don’t like it the other day. Our feelings change for things and for people too. I think it is not possible to say that we will love something for ever.
