Yes, you just put it a beautiful way as well! Because of the invisible nature of this inward path, it can sometimes be hard to navigate, so I find it's best to allow emotions to come up when they do, fully experience them, and then perceive them from a new point of view in order to discover what they truly mean for our lives. Rewriting our stories is such a powerful ability we all have!

For a while I was using the positivity movement type of advice of rejecting negative thoughts and feelings, but ignoring feelings is unhealthy.
We need to experience all our feelings in order to heal and as you said, perceive them from a new point of view and change our story.
