"God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
This topic in the Bible seems to be hard, because it might tackle a sensitive issue of Worshiping Idols or Idolatry. I might offend others, but I have to discuss it according to the Truth of the Word.
The verse here is telling us the Nature of God, which Spirit...and Spirit can not be seen, it is not a physical matter that we can see or touch. It is like the Wind that we can not see but it is a reality. Yes we can feel the wind and we can tell with our eyes it's direction because of the evidence of changes and moves of the matters that the wind pass over, like the leaves of the Trees when the wind pass on them. The Word of God is telling us here that when we worship God we should worship Him in Spirit, meaning we don't have to see anything to worship God. We don't need a Statue or a Portrait to Worship Him. Because that Image or Statue or Relics will become an Idol. We don't need an evidence to believe Him and worship Him because it takes faith to worship God. Faith needs no evidence. We need faith to Worship God, because Faith is believing what we do not see. Do you need an evidence to believe in God? Just look at around us, the Universe,the Stars in the Sky and the Human body...They may speak the Wonderful works of God.
Second that this verse tells us is to worship Him in Truth. The Truth that the Word of God is telling us here, is none but the Word of God or the Bible. So, we must worship Him based on the Word of God, the Bible. If it's not according to the Bible it's not the right way of worshiping God.
Please read the Bible it will draw us to the truth and the Truth that we will know will set us free...
