The internet has evolved immensely over the last two decades that I've been involved. In the early days it was hard because everything was new and you needed to attack things from first principles; as well, I was at the bottom of the World where the ping ping of modems was far from the fast paced action happening in the Northern Hemisphere.
However, though there were many technical challenges then, one person could rule and make a dent with a very small budget so long as they kept the faith. Now, in 2018 we have an increasingly sophisticated internet where a loan wolf with a computer has to become proficient in many different roles or enlist the help of outsourcers. The playing field is much more complex and the speed of change is exponential.
With the rise of social media platforms and the plethora of personal and business websites the question becomes how do you get your message out there? Website, Ebook, Hardcopy, Facebook, Youtube. What is the most effective way to manage the material you wish to share, material which you think may benefit others who have been through a similar experience or come from a similar place and are looking for a path that may help them understand their condition.
What even is the point, when the chances of actually being seen by these people are so slim as to be near zero. All of the platforms available need constant attention, are open to manipulation by the platform owners and can be taken down by hackers and others bent on destruction. Traffic these days unlike back when is harder to get; the print media agencies have had to morph into new entities that sell digital space. They have always had big budgets and of course nothing will change as we move further along the sophistication time line. As the big Brands move online the flat playing field grows Tilt buttons and the game becomes more expensive to play. Recent changes that allow ISP's to play with traffic is a simple example of this.
Why have I been endeavouring to conquer this online game. Well that's were the story begins. But I missed the boat on many fronts as I tried to master all things, in an effort to create a small, perpetual income that would allow me to continue my responsibility as a Carer. My biggest mistake was discounting my own skills with regard the developing ecommerce environment and seeking the best possible solution rather than just ploughing ahead with the faith that my efforts would evolve with the development that was happening around me.
So here I am still attempting to create many websites on many fronts : Help Local Business; Sell Yoga Packages around the World; Market Spices on Amazon as an example to Australia of how to use Amazon to build their Brick and Mortar; Teach people more about Cryptocurrency and various other projects.
But then I found Steemit through my blockchain research. I thought, well here's a really good use for the blockchain. A site that will get more traffic than I could ever dream of, and willing to share any benefits with its users and making those benefits water tight through a private encryption key using the Blockchain. If nothing else it illustrates the potential and massive opportunities for this technology.
So I thought why not see what I can do with this new, well new to me, platform. Maybe this is the way forward, forget about the tech and concentrate on the message. So lets find out! #soiamthat
