I created this post to share some thoughts and revelations I had over the last few hours
Few hours ago, I decided to combat the malicious spam-comments that were targeting new posts to share lies about Smartsteem.com (Background Story) with a simple script which either comments with @therealwolf or @smartsteem to warn the users who were getting spammed and of course to also protect my business.
And it worked.
But due to the sheer amount of comments that he user created with his accounts - my own comments quickly became SPAM as well. (4-6 comments per minute)
Which made me realize that I was actually doing pretty much the same thing as the Spammer.
Doing a bad thing for a good-cause is not ok
I was doing a bad thing for a good-cause.
And the Spammer also probably believes that he is doing it for a good cause.
So I ultimately decided to stop the comment- & flag-initiative.
And this also brings be to the following point ...
Be loyal to your innermost truth
There is a saying I often remember ever since I read it on the profile of a great steemian (@thejohalfiles).
Be loyal to your innermost truth. Forgive those who are not; as they do not know the way. - 8888
I was feeling very restless the last few hours, after I activated the script and when I finally went to bed; I couldn't sleep.
Even though I didn't know exactly why - my body knew something wasn't right.
And now - after I disabled the script: I feel much better.
Even though the comments are created nonetheless without even getting downvoted and lies are spread across Steem - I feel that my actions are now much more aligned with my innermost truth.
I want to end this post by saying that I'm very, very grateful about the love I've received on my previus post (staring into the face of hate) by so many steemians commenting.
And @annemariemay - said it best:
Not a single comment or message on discord / steem.chat was negative - it was all positive vibes.
Thank you!
PS: I actually wanted to decline payout and activated it in settings, but it didn't work. (my guess is that I should have reloaded the site afterwards)
So, please keep in mind that I made this post to share my thoughts :)
hmm doing bad for a good thing is not..right
Hi @therealwolf. I have a question about my delegation to smartsteem. I used to have daily payments. Now I haven't seen a payment for a week. Is there something wrong?
If you decline payout does that mean curators also don't get payout? If so I think you should never decline payout.
Just look at @engadgetnews mainstream media outlet joins steem and is hugely popular.
Stops accepting payout for unknown legal reason. People stopped liking.
hmm thats right
..i appreciate you.
Awesome Picture - Stunning & Nostalgic.... Its pure Artistic Beauty.
Also
Love your story - Be Loyal To Your Innermost Truth - Keep on sharing! =)
It is good to share your thought once in a while, that will make your mind freer.
It's unfortunate that we can't do that all the time.
That picture is beautiful. Glad you decided to deactivate the script. Very noble thing to do. I'm sure he will destroy himself in the end.
thats a good thing that you share your thoughts with the all the Steemians. Not everyone is like that. Of cause, doing bad for a good thing is not the right way, it brings again negativity back.
I think it is great that you decided to deactivate the script. Lead the way through example. You are the creator of your creatrix. All if love!
Just few words!
I love it!
I see it exactly the same way.

I have learned to listen, we have very physical reactions to certain things and don't know why, but the intuition is always right. Always. It's like we do have a Jimminy Cricket in our ear after all lol. I had a similar thought when I got phished, that I would have a short comment or something to brand new users about making sure they understood passwords first, before building up their accounts and losing their work. About 4 comments in, I was like "hmm , I'm spamming now and it might look like I'm one of those douchey people who just goes to the Introduce Yourself tag and tries to drum up followers with generic welcomes". I don't know your story with the spammers - but I have only heard smartsteem mentioned by people I respect, so you must be doing something right <3
and that pic is phenomenal 0_0
