When taking on bosses in Splinterforge, equipment is key. Getting a full list of equipment is necessary for being competitive in the leader boards. The equipment itself helps your hero take and dish out more damage, but more importantly, it allows you to socket items that can improve your team.
In the last guide I mentioned increasing your mana capacity so that you can deploy more and stronger units. There are also more strategic moves you can make. For example:
This rune allows you to play a life monster without using a life summoner. Let's say you have a really great melee team, but you only have one life monster on that team. This rune can go a long way because it allows you to use another summoner who has a boost that might be more effective for your build. One of the things I like doing with this is to play a rune like this and choose a card like this:
So now you can see the benefit. I can play a summoner that has a better bonus, but I can also utilize a card that will increase the damage of all my melee units by one. These are the kind of combinations that the runes allow you to play that increase your point earning potential using the same cards.
As I like to do, the first person who comments and says that they want the chipped life force rune, I will send it to them so they can try it out.
Slots for imbuing equipment are one of the main drivers of effectiveness in Splinterforge. It takes a lot to improve them, and I will discuss that later, but equipment and runes are what allows players to be really good in Splinterforge even if they don't have the absolute best hand at Splinterlands itself.
