I don't have a Spineback Turtle in my collection, so I chose to use a different monster for this week's Share Your Battle Challenge. But who to use?
None other than the straight out of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Tortisian Fighter, of course.
Battle Selection
I ended up playing about 30 matches before I found a favorable ruleset to deploy my Kung-Fu turtle. I needed a match that allowed Water and either a low Mana cap or Little League, if I was to use him as a tank. An Equal Opportunity or Super Sneak match would allow me to deploy him in the backline. Splinterlands is all about playing to the ruleset, and I didn't want to lose matches just to have a good battle to share.
My match conditions showed up in the form of a Super Sneak, Holy Protection, 13 Mana cap match. Holy Protection usually favors taking as many monster's as possible.
My Team
1st Position - I put Tortisian Fighter up front to tank knowing he would take at least 3 hits to bring down and hopefully he'd manage 2-4 damage on my opponents tank before that.
2nd Position - Hardy Stonefish got put in second position to attract any Opportunity attacks away from my Creeping Ooze.
3rd Position - Creeping Ooze was necessary to give my 1 Speed attack squad a chance to hit their targets. He'll also take 2-3 hits to bring down if he ends up tanking, giving my Battle Orca more time to Sneak attack.
4th Position - Battle Orca has a bunch of Health for only 3 Mana and a decent speed. He's an excellent choice to take a bunch of Sneak attacks and to dish them right back.
The Other Team
My opponent @ariquebuga also selected Kelya Frendul with Serpent of Eld and Battering Ram.
Serpent of Eld is tough to hit and Holy Protection will make it tougher. However, I feel pretty confident that this ruleset favors a lots of little guys approach.
The Battle
Watch the Battle
At the end of Round 1, my Kung Fu turtle failed to remove Serpent of Eld's Divine Shield while suffering the loss of his own. Battle Orca and Hardy Stonefish managed to remove the Battering Ram's Divine Shield and Armor. Battering Ram removed Battle Orca's Divine Shield.
At the end of Round 2, Tortisian Fighter has lost his Armor to the Serpent of Eld's attack. Battle Orca has killed the Battering Ram. Tortisan Fighter and Hardy Stonefish score hits, with the support of Creeping Ooze, and remove the Serpent of Eld's Divine Shield and 1 point of Armor.
Round 3 sees our brave Tortisian Fighter taken down by the Serpent of Eld. Hardy Stonefish and Battle Orca finish off the Serpent of Eld's Armor.
Round 4 and the Serpent of Eld has removed the Hardy Stonefish's Divine Protection, but suffered hits from both Battle Orca and Hardy Stonefish again.
Round 5 sees the Serpent of Eld get back to dodging, but he still suffers a Battle Orca hit. Hardy Stonefish loses his Armor.
Round 6 Serpent of Eld finishes off the Hardy Stonefish and Dodges the Battle Orca.
Round 7 and the Serpent of Eld keeps Dodging. The Creeping Oooze clocks in for his duty as a 3 hit road block.
Round 8 and Battle Orca gets another hit while the Creeping Ooze loses his Armor.
The Battle Orca come's through in round 9 to finish the job. If he had missed, he would have had 3 more chances to get the work done, but at a 10% lower hit chance.
The Wrap Up
Creeping Oooze and Battle Orca were the real MVP's of this match up. I don't use the Tortisian Fighter much, and he will probably be delegated to the rulesets I previously mentioned, unless I manage to get a leveled up copy for cheap. His repair ability would make him much more useful.
