Prologue
In 2024, I actually started playing Splinterlands again after a long break. It took me quite a while to get my head around all the new tactics, abilities, monsters and all that - I hadn't played for 2 years. I had gotten frustrated with a lot of the changes what had been made, and returned just in time to see a beautiful recovery at the game. In this post, I will focus on battles and strategies.
Weapons Training
I'm a huge fan of Weapons Training and actually bought two more copies of Rage to get him to level 2 - and that beast has won me many battles. I also invested in Zyriel for the same reason, to created powerful dual-attack-monsters. Same goes for Daarg Deadblast, another of my buys this year, to combine with the Kulu Mastermind. Here are some posts about this:

Max Pruitt
I got Max Pruitt from the Rebellion-War, with a chance of only 0,27% - very lucky. Since then, this card has grown on me a lot. I even dedicated a whole post to this summoner, as you can read by clicking on this link
Max Pruitt also gave me the fastest win ever in this set-up - giving the Diemonshark Shield-Attack just had it roll over the enemies.
Evasive Strategies
Another strategy that I'm very fond of his betting on high speed, for example in combination with Dodge, Phase or Explosion. Speed is one of the decisive attributes in Splinterlands, and yet painfully undervalued by a lot of players - giving those an advantage who actually bet on it.
A favorite card for this strategy is the Coeurl Lurker, a card that I upgraded to level 2 in order to have phase and dodge on it.
Here's a "normal" battle for this strategy

The Furious Chicken Incident
One of my favorite cards to play in wild has become the favorite chicken in combination with weapons training, leading to a surprise - the chicken can kill Kron!

Conclusion
I really stepped up my game this year - which wasn't too hard because I hadn't played for a while. I now play Gold Tier in my Guild brawls, and usually win more battles than I lose, which is good.
My card collection is expanding, a little slower now, but still nicely and focussed on some cards - at the same time, I'm trying to save some money in order to take advantage of good deals that come along with the new Edition.
There are still many things that I have to learn, but I'm quite happy with my progress in terms of battling, tactics and strategies this year. Let's see how 2025 goes!
