Splinterlands has risen from humble beginnings built on close-knit community involvement and since then has grown into the game as it is today.
With such rich origins anchored deep in the hearts of the Splinterlands family from day one, it is hard to imagine that no remnants of early days are left in the game.
As an avid supporter and one of the earlier adopters of this amazing game, I have seen many things evolve over time, but I have also seen many things that have stayed the same, kept their roots intact so to say.
A short while back, I joined in on one of the streams hosted on SPLTV and although I can not remember how the topic came up, I mentioned the artist signatures that are still displayed on some of the cards from the Alpha/Beta collections. And I was shocked by the fact that, until that point, no one in the chat was aware of this. So of course, I decided that a post for the sake of awareness was in order... and here we are!
There are numerous cards in the Alpha/Beta edition that houses the signature of the original artist, these signatures can be seen on regular and gold foil cards, however, they are displayed more clearly on the Gold Foil cards. I am pretty sure that this is simply due to the more pungent color contrast displayed on them.
Above you can see the infamous KOBOLD MINER, a common card in the Fire element. And below you can see the signature displayed on the prehistoric trampling REXXIE a common card in the Earth element.
The two examples given above are certainly not the only signed cards in the Alpha/Beta collection, but they were the first two that popped to mind. If you take the time to look, you would be surprised to see how many of the early edition cards still bare the signature of their creator.
In a game that boasts with complete and utter card ownership, you can own an original masterpiece not only marked by its unique card ID but also authenticated by the signature of the artist themselves. I mean seriously, how cool is that!
If you are one of the few who knew about this, feel free to let me know if you have a favorite signed card. And if this is new to you, go ahead and see how many other signed cards you can find in your collection or the card market. Either way, drop me a comment below, I would love to hear from you!

Hey there kind sir. Sorry for the very late reply, I have not been on the blockchain much over the last year. I am still obnoxiously kicking and screaming through life.
How are things on your side?
I'm glad to hear from you! I will worry forever if you tire of the Hive. I am just glad you're putting up a fight, as am I here. I hope all is well with your lovely family.
