Renting vs. Playing with Owned Cards: My personal insight

in #splinterlands3 years ago (edited)

Say I have enough CP for the league that I want to play in.

Should I use my owned cards to play Splinterlands then rent it out while my ECR is still refilling?

Or should I just rent out my cards then rent cards from Peakmonsters to play for my DQ chests?

I've tried both.

I believe it is more efficient to just rent out my cards, then rent cards from other people in Peakmonsters. Here's why:

If you remember my first blog post, I wrote how I accumulated more than 32k CP in 12 days.

I ended up with more than 40k CP in 1 season.

I tried playing my cards and realized that it was not efficient for these reasons:

  1. There is a 1 day cooldown before you can rent it out again.
  2. There is another 1 day cooldown before you can use it after you rent it out and the rentee used it.
1day cooldown starts from when it was last used.

So if I play my DQ quests then rent it out after, it would take at most 3 days per cycle.

I save DEC from rental expenses.

I earn 1 day rental income from 3 days cycle.

I always lose 1 day of potential rent income per cycle.

I figured out it is more efficient to just rent out my cards continuously.

That 3 days cycle before my next grind for stacked DQs also mean that I can play upto 25% ECR remaining.

ECR regenerates 25% daily so it should be back to 100% ECR on my next grind.

If I want to play to get my DQ chests, I can just rent from other people.

This way if I rent out and in at the same rental price for the same card, I only lose 5% from rent commission.

Rent Income - Rent Expense - 5% Rent Commission = Net profit for renting

Figures shown above have the assumption that rent rates are constant.
If I can snipe a better price for the same card, I can even gain profit from renting.

Playing in higher leagues will mean more transactions since I need to rent out more cards.

To make this work, I needed additional HP when I played in Diamond/Champion leagues because I ran out of RC.

So I added 100 HP. Having more HP will also mean I can always adjust my rent price for more profit.

In fact, I became more HP hungry due to my earning strategies in Splinterlands.

So please UPVOTE my blog posts so I can have more HP and be motivated to share more of my earning strategies.

Some might argue that optimizing ECR (playing from 100% up to 75% daily) will also yield more DEC, but I'm pretty sure renting out my cards still yield higher DEC earnings than that.

I find this useful during EOS as well.

TL;DR Renting wins! This is what I am looking for in my previous NFT games.

  1. List your cards for rent in the market.
  2. Rent cards when you want to get your Daily Quests or increase ratings.

Feel free to let us know your thoughts as well.

CP - Collection Power
DEC - Dark Energy Crystals token
ECR - Energy Capture Rate
DQ - Daily Quests
HP - HIVE power (staked HIVE token)
RC - Resource Credits
EOS - End of Season
NFT - Non-Fungible

Wow. Very informative post bro. I will try this after this season ends, I am playing daily with my own cards and my DEC earnings are minimal
