Splinterlands are releasing a few new Rebellion promotional cards - Sanctus Vicar, Elanor Bravefoot, Night Stalker and Delya. I decided to test the Sanctus Vicar out in battle and was pretty impressed.
Sanctus Vicar
Let's take a look at the Vicar, first. His starting ability is the 'Cleanse Rearguard', which if i'm being honest, isn't a really good ability outside of maybe the Poison ruleset.
But what I do like about him is that he can do two damage right off the bat and also comes with decent health. By level 4, he can do a double cleanse, which would indeed come in handy for poison battles.
Testing the Vicar out in battle
Here's a battle where I used the Vicar which worked out pretty well. Mainly due to its high health for a level 1 card. Especially so once you get a summoner +1 health boost.
1st position - Xenith Monk - Want him for the relatively high health and expecting my opponent to use a melee strategy, the shield should come in handy.
2nd position - Mana Warden - I want to give my front unit the added Shield.
3rd position - Xenith Archer - Just a placeholder to do a bit of range damage given the low mana constraints.
4th position - Sanctus Vicar - Decent health and damage for a low mana battle.
The battle started off on the totally wrong foot because my opponent went for a magic attack strategy that I was totally not prepared for. How is this going to play out?
By the start of round 4, it was not looking good as I only had my range attack units left. And as we all know, once they're out in the front, they can't do any damage. But that's where the high health of the Vicar comes in handy. I was able to reflect some damage and get it down to 2 non-attack units.
And when that happens, fatigue sets in and both sides take 1 damage per round. In a battle of endurance, the Vicar can last pretty long.
I was eventually victorious but it was such an unexpected victory. Thank you, Vicar! You can catch a replay of the entire battle here: https://splinterlands.com?p=battle&id=sl_c6f7b408debabc735154c21e7f56d9a0&ref=charcoalbuffet
