The Battle Mage Secrets challenge is back for another week, in which the Splinterlands team proposes a battle rule for us to analyse, study and test its gameplay, pros and cons. This week the chosen battle rule is Fog of War, a rule that conditions and minimizes the effect of those cards that stand out for their attacking abilities from the second line of our lineups. Let's analyse this week's battle rule and see how we can use it to our advantage. Let's get started.

Esta semana la regla de batalla elegida ha sido Fog of War. Una regla que condiciona y minimiza el efecto de aquellas cartas que destacan por sus habilidades de ataque desde la segunda línea de nuestras alineaciones. Vamos a analizar la regla de batalla de esta semana y ver cómo podemos aprovecharla a nuestros favor. Comenzamos.
The effect of Fog of War as a battle rule is to disable the Sneak and Snipe abilities All card-based strategies with these two important abilities are rendered useless by the fog that this rule introduces to the battlefield. It is time to consider alternatives for decks and strategies that abuse these two abilities, which are useless in these conditions. A useful strategy for these cases is to have a good tank and fill the rear with cards with magic and ranged attack to do as much damage as possible per round to our enemy.
El efecto que provoca Fog of War como regla de batalla es el de inutilizar las habilidades Sneak y Snipe. Todas aquellas estrategias basadas en cartas con estas dos importantes habilidades quedan inutilizadas por la niebla que introduce esta regla en el campo de batalla. Es momento de estudiar alternativas en aquellos mazos y estrategias que abusen de estas dos habilidades que, en estas condiciones, son inútiles. Una estrategia útil para estos casos es tener un buen tanque y llenar la retaguardia de cartas con ataque mágico y a distancia para hacer el máximo daño posible por ronda a nuestro enemigo.

At the tank stand I choose Pelacor Mercenary. He's not the best tank in the green deck, but he has good vitality and the ability to fly which can cause the opposing tank's attacks to fail.
En el puesto de tanque me decido por Pelacor Mercenary. No es el mejor tanque del mazo verde pero cuenta con una buena vitalidad y la habilidad de vuelo que puede provocar fallos en los ataques del tanque rival.
For the second position, I'll go for another tank to take that spot when Pelacor Mercanary goes down. This position is taken by Unicorn Mustang.

Behind the unicorn comes one of my favourite cards in this deck: Regal Peryton. A card with magic attack and a lot of speed that tends to perform well in almost all game contexts.
Detrás del unicornio llega una de mis cartas preferidas en este mazo: Regal Peryton. Una carta con ataque mágico y mucha velocidad que suele rendir bien en casi todos los contextos del juego.
I intersperse in the fourth position a card with a ranged attack like Venari Seedsmith who, in addition, has the Scavenger ability so he will increase his vitality every time he hurts his opponent.

My opponent will be @mpot who will line up with a death deck full of magic and ranged cards and, like me, two tanks in the top two positions. He leaves the offensive power to the last three cards in his line-up for a total of six potential damage points. It's going to be a really tough match that could be decided by details.

As you can see, the presence of Fog of Battle means that we have to vary our strategy radically. It's not uncommon in Splinterlands to find decks in which there is always a card with Snipe or Sneak. These are two really useful abilities that cause damage in every round, and their removal means that the battlefield is littered with cards with magic and ranged attacks that are immune to this powerful fog. This is one of the reasons why it is convenient to have versatile decks that are able to adapt and perform adequately in various situations such as the battle condition analysed this week.
Como has podido comprobar, la presencia de Fog of Battle provoca que tengamos que variar nuestra estrategia radicalmente. Es habitual encontrar en Splinterlands mazos en los que siempre hay alguna carta con Snipe o Sneak. Son dos habilidades realmente útiles y que causan daño en todas las rondas, su eliminación provoca que sobre el campo de batalla abunden las cartas con ataque mágico y a distancia que son inmunes a esta poderosa niebla. Es uno de los motivos por el que es conveniente tener unos mazos polivalentes que sean capaces de adaptarse y rendir de manera adecuada en varias situaciones como la condición de batalla analizada esta semana.
