There is a gang of deadly magic death assassins roaming the arenas of Splinterlands as of late, and they bring weakening tactics to debilitate and decimate with their powerful magic whoever dares stand on their path.
After so many battles and the stats that are generated, it's a given that patterns begin to emerge and the meta begins to reveal itself. There will always be team setups that undoubtedly show their alpha stance and prove why they are to be feared.
One such team has been bringing death and fear, a pattern that I have come across in my latest battles, and it's a fearsome death squad.
The core cards in the death squads are:
And they will surely not be alone, and bring some other fierce gang members along.
Since the main strength is Magic and Weaken, the best way to counter this death squad is by mitigating the magic. Two ways have proven to work for me, Silence and Void, or Magic Reflect and Amplify.
Also, having some extra life to counter the weakened will help even the stakes.
I got burnt on this battle, the shear strength of this squad with Cthulhu as tank, Twisted Jester and the Halfling Alchemist was too much to handle and I got decimated.

This victorious battle with the Life splinter: Mother Kala and Djinn Renova for the extra life, Magic reflect and amplify help stop these deadly magic attacks.

This victorious battle with the Earth splinter. Silence, and Void, heal helped stay strong and the sniper provided some much-needed support.

So, keep an eye out for this fearsome death gang that's been roaming the arenas, seeping fear into the souls of weakened teams whom they come across.
