Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge - AVINA OF THE WOLF: THE LONE HUNTRESS

in #splinterlandslast month

Hey Splintermates, what is going on? This week, I haven´t been busy preparing any post, as I have been recently father of my second child and I can´t find that much time.

But here it comes, one of my favourite types of challenges proposed by the Splinterlands team. If you are a Splinterlands player and you don´t know how to participate in this challenge, please go to the following link.

Last time the Splinterlands Team was proposing this challenge, I prepared a post about one of the scariest death monster named CURSED WINDEKU. If you would like to read that and provide me your feedback about my imagination, I would be much appreciated.

This week, I have decided to change Splinter and I will go with a recently launched life Summoner called AVINA OF THE WOLF.

But before starting with the post, I would like to invite you to go to my X account and give a warm WELCOME TO THE FAMILY to my Gold Foil Avina. There are several Splinterlands players like, @nozem01 @bravetofu, @dejota or @goldmatters that have created a tradition to Welcome every time you buy a new card. It inspires the rest of the community to do the same and it keeps you pushing to improve your deck.

Avina is a rare Tactical Summoner that provides you 2 powerful options:

  • Option 1 --> +2 Speed: Currently speed is one of the most important stats in the game. If you want to win a battle, you need to have speed. With Avina, you can choose up to 2 monster.
  • Option 2 --> Heal. You can select one monster that gets the Heal ability. Very useful.

The card I own is a Gold Foil lvl 2 card, it is an excellent option for my Brawls and also for some tournaments, but it´s still at lower level. In Modern and Wild ranked format I play high silver or low gold, so I haven´t been able to win a battle😝.

But if you want to see her in live action, please go to the following battle.

After you have got more familiar with my newest adquisition, I would like to expand her lore and let my imagination fly. Please enjoy 🤓😎,

AVINA OF THE WOLF: THE LONE HUNTRESS

Avina was born under the Wolf Moon, in the shadow of the Bleeding Peaks, a cursed mountain range whispered about in fearful tones by villagers. Her people, the Duskborn, were a secluded tribe devoted to the Old Ways, living in harmony with the wild. They believed in a deep spiritual bond between man and beast, particularly the wolves that roamed their forests. Wolves were sacred, seen as guardians of the unseen world and harbingers of destiny.

From birth, Avina was marked by prophecy. She bore the Lupine Sigil on her right shoulder, a jagged, silvered scar resembling a wolf's head. The village shaman foretold her life would be bound to both the wolf and the moon, a destiny of great pain and power. Her mother, fearing this fate, tried to shield her from her calling. But destiny cannot be denied.

The Tragedy of the Duskborn

When Avina was just twelve winters old, marauders led by a dark sorcerer descended upon her village, seeking an artifact known as the Moonshard, a relic of immense power said to channel the lunar energy. The Duskborn refused to surrender it, believing it would corrupt the balance of nature. In retaliation, the sorcerer unleashed the Blightfire, a spell that burned the forest and twisted its creatures into abominations.

As her people were slaughtered, Avina fled into the depths of the forest. Guided by an enormous, ghostly white wolf, she stumbled into a hidden glade known as the Wolf's Veil. There, beneath a pale moonlight that seemed to linger unnaturally, the spectral wolf revealed itself to be Fenrion, the ancient guardian spirit of the Duskborn. It spoke of the covenant between her ancestors and the wolves, a pact sealed in blood and moonlight.

Fenrion offered Avina a choice: to perish as her people did, or to accept the Wolfbond, a rite that would imbue her with the strength and cunning of the wolf but forever tether her soul to the wilderness. Desperate for vengeance and survival, Avina accepted. As Fenrion sank its fangs into her palm, the bond was sealed. She felt her humanity begin to slip away, replaced by heightened senses, supernatural speed, and the ability to summon wolves from the spirit realm.

Avina's Journey

For years, Avina lived as a ghost in the wilderness, hunting the sorcerer and his marauders. Her name became legend among villagers and warbands alike—a spectral figure who moved like a shadow and struck with the ferocity of a wolf pack. Wherever she roamed, wolves followed. Her eyes glowed with an eerie silver light in the moonlight, and her howl could summon a storm of spirit wolves to overwhelm her enemies.

But the Wolfbond came at a cost. The longer she embraced the power, the more she felt her humanity erode. On nights of the full moon, she transformed fully into a massive, silver-furred wolf, losing herself to the beast within. Each time, it became harder to return to her human form.

The Moonshard’s Curse

Avina eventually learned the truth of the Moonshard: it was not merely a relic, but a shard of the moon itself, fallen during an ancient celestial war. It carried immense power but also great corruption, drawing out the worst in those who sought to wield it. The sorcerer’s power stemmed from the shard, which had poisoned the land and corrupted its creatures.

Fenrion revealed that Avina's ultimate fate was tied to the shard. Destroying it would rid the world of its curse but would also sever the Wolfbond, leaving her mortal and vulnerable once more. If she failed, however, the shard's corruption would eventually overtake her, and she would become an unstoppable beast that even Fenrion could not control.
Themes of Redemption and Sacrifice

Avina’s tale is one of balance—between humanity and savagery, vengeance and justice, power and restraint. While her legend grows with every battle she fights and every foe she slays, Avina is haunted by the knowledge that she walks a thin line. Each choice she makes, each time she calls upon the power of the Wolfbond, brings her closer to the beast within.

She is both a savior and a warning—a reminder that power, no matter how righteous the cause, always comes with a price.
