Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - All in in Rebellion

in #splinterlands2 months ago

Hey Splintermates, what is going on? We have a new Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. This time, we have been asked by the Team to share my most most remarkable Splinterlands Moments.

As always, I encourage all Splinterlands players to participate in these challenges, as it is a unique opportunity to provide more visibility in social media about our most favourite game. And by helping the game, you can get back some earning to reinvest in Splinterlands. If you don´t know how to participate, here you can find the link to the post.

I would like to share with you what is my current strategy for the future changes in Splinterlands. As you know, between March/ April, the Splinterlands team is going to release a new set called Conclave Arcana.

BYE BYE CHAOS LEGION

The Splinterlands universum is going to change next year. Well, not the Splinterlands universum, but the ranked modern format. Currently, if you take a look at the ranked modern battlefield, you will see that the only card sets available are just Rebellion and Chaos Legion.

Rebellion is the newest released set of cards, we will come back to it further down. But, what is the magic of Chaos Legion?

The Chaos Legion set was officially released in December 2021, following months of teasers and lore reveals. It represented one of the largest expansions in Splinterlands history and was pivotal for the game's growth during a period of rising interest in blockchain gaming.

With the new Chaos Legion set, several game-changing mechanics were introduced, like new abilities, diverse new monsters and powerful summoners:

  • New Abilities: Abilities like Recharge, Scattershot, and others expanded strategic options in battles.

  • Diverse Monsters: Over 100 new cards were introduced, offering a variety of monsters and summoners for every Splinter.

  • Powerful Summoners: Iconic summoners, such as Quix the Devious, Immortalis or Possiblus The Wise became integral to gameplay and strategy.

These additions increased the depth of gameplay and gave players more flexibility in creating competitive decks.

1. Influence on Gameplay and Economy

Chaos Legion significantly influenced the game’s ecosystem:

  • Card Rentals and Sales: The abundance of cards made renting and buying cards easier, which democratized competition and allowed new players to build strong decks without heavy investments.

  • Tournament Meta: The expansion reshaped the meta, with Chaos Legion cards becoming staples in tournaments and ranked play.

  • Burn Mechanic: Players could burn cards to increase the collection's overall scarcity, adding a deflationary aspect to the card supply.

2. Legacy and Current Relevance

Chaos Legion remains one of the cornerstone expansions in Splinterlands. As newer sets are released, such as Rebellion, Chaos Legion cards continue to hold strategic value in both ranked play and tournaments. The lore and characters introduced in this expansion have also been expanded upon in subsequent updates and promotional materials.

Some of the most notable cards from Chaos Legion include:

Dr. Blight (promo card)

imagen.png

A monster card at max level with all the abilities available, such as Affliction, Poison, Scavenger, Weaken and Camouflage. This card is going to be doing damage until the card reaches the first position.

Djinn Oshannus (water monster)

imagen.png

A must have card, at any level. This card has speed, magic attack with amazing abilities, such as Void, Phase and Forcefield. The forcefield ability is key against monsters that have the rage ability or for the rage ruleset. This ability is also key at max level battles, when cards have been maxed out.

Grum Flameblade

This is a fire tank with bloodlust. If you have read my previous posts, you will know that I consider Bloodlust is the most OP ability in this game. This card has also Void Armor, Void and Giant Killer abilities. If this card is able to hit the enemy, it will do a lot of damage.

These cards have become iconic and they are going to disapper.

Modern vs Wild - Maximize earning

If you are a new player in Splinterlands, you need to understand the difference between playing in Modern and Wild. Here are the primary differences:

1- Card Pools

The main difference between Modern and Wild format is the available card pool. As already explained above, in Modern format there is a restriction to the most recent card sets and expansions. It allows for a more level playing field since newer players don´t need older cards and encourages adapting to the latest meta and strategies.

Wild format includes all cards from all editions, including Alpha, Beta, Promo, Reward, and all expansion sets. It provides a more deck-building options but also faces greater complexity. Veterans with older cards often have an advantage, making it more challenging for newer players.

Below you can see the Top 5 of the Leaderboard of last season:

None of them appear twice in the ranking. This is due to the different gameplay dynamics

2- Gameplay Dynamics

For Modern format, it is a simpler gameplay due to fewer card interactions and synergies. It is more focused on strategies revolving around newer mechanics and card abilities. And as there are less cards, fewer overpowered older cards dominate matches, leading to a more balanced meta. However, you will need to have these meta cards.

For Wild format, a more strategic depth because of a wider pool of cards and older mechanics is required and unique synergies emerge from mixing old and new cards. There are some matches that may feel unbalanced due to overpowered legacy cards.

3- Rewards and Ranking

This is the other key difference (together with the card pool) that you should know as a Splinterlands player. There are different leaderboards and ranking systems with distinct rewards. Players compete in different pools. Currently, the rewards for winning a Battle at my level is 2x more SPS in Modern and a few less Glint. Below you can see 2 examples:

Modern format battle:

Wild format battle:

This is because the season has restarted yesterday and I need to climb up again. These numbers change in favour of Modern at the EOS and the difference is 3X more in SPS and Glint rewards in Modern.

Based on this, I have decided to prepare myself for the next Modern format change.

REBELLION - HERE WE GO!

As the new set has been announced, I have started investing the time and money to improve my Rebellion deck. In the last couple of weeks, I have decided to start buying the most meta cards before other Splinterlands players start doing the same strategy.

1- Daarg Deadblast

imagen.png

A water legendary card, that combines Weapons Training with Swiftness and Triage. This card can be combined with some powerful cards, such as Noa the Just or Baakjira.

2- Moxian Rebel

imagen.png

I have won this card today in a bid set in Peakmonsters. This card is another monster card (it´s just an Rare card) for low mana battles. You can combine this card with Lurkin Puffer, Chaos Agent or any other support card to provide with a 1 Magic Attack.

3- Baron Fyatt

imagen.png

A dual monster. You can use this card with a Fire or Death Splinter. This card has a strong 2 Magic attack, considerable health with 6 and two amazing abilities, such as Halving and Scattershot. If this monster hits your monster, all attacks will be cut in half.

4- Several legendary summoners

imagen.png

All new Rebellion legendary summoners are meta. You need to own them if you want to be competitive in Modern format. I have started placing bids and own already some beasts, such as Akane, Nidhoggr, Risqruel Drath or Elias Max Pruitt.

I will continue investing in Rebellion to maximize rewards in Modern and keep building a competitive deck for Tournaments.

I hope for you not to meet me in Modern, because I will give my best to beat you😆!
