Centaur Battle Challenge

Another week, another challenge! And this week, it's all about the sniping CENTAUR.

This was a little hard for me because I don't own one and since the last update, it wasn't a free card anymore. So, I didn't notice it's absence until I was specifically searching for it.

The Centaur of Anumun, in level 1, is a card with 3 speed, 1 range attack and 4 HP which makes him a good neutral card if you're looking to snipe those magic and range attacks in the middle. He will also snipe cards who don't have attacks, so if you want to kill that healer in the middle, Centaur is a good choice.

If you want to see that battle I had, here's the link to it: https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_24375d4163e1378bd5b33329950619b8

As you can see, I used a golf foil Centaur as it's pretty cheap to rent those these days, I also want additional DEC if ever I win.

The rulesets for this battle were:

ruleset centaur battle.jpg

  1. HEAVY HITTER: This is a rule where monsters with the STUN ability have a 50% chance of stunning their opponents and if successful in stunning, they will deal double damage.

  2. HOLY PROTECTION: This gives monsters of each side a shield where they nullify the first attack they get.

In addition to that, a whooping 48 mana cost was imposed in this battle. Which is amazing since I love using cards with high mana requirement.

Lastly, earth, life, death and dragon decks can be used in this battle.

Upon looking at my opponent's history, he frequently uses the new meta summoner, GENERAL SLOAN, I was thinking of using CONTESSA L'AMENT with her -1 range or MIMOSA NIGHTSHADE with her -1 range, void ability and affliction.

** VOID is an ability that decreases magic attacks and AFFLICTION is an ability that disables any healing to the enemy monsters. Knowing that General Sloan is a life summoner, the enemy might use a healer, so I wanted to avoid that. Bringing me to my ultimate choice of using Mimosa Nightshade.

Now to the cards I used, I placed CURSED WINDEKU on the first spot because of his TORNS as I know, my opponent would use a melee tank and I was right!

He also used Luminous Eagle, which is another melee card on the second spot so another win for me.

I chose to place DISINTEGRATOR on the second spot for his DEMORALIZE, as it reduces the melee attack of enemy monsters. I did this so my tank will not take too much damage and survive 3 to 4 rounds. It also has 2 shield which will help if there are monsters with BLAST ability.

I wanted a magic monster in the middle so I placed the legendary card, DJINN MUIRAT there, a monster with 2 magic attack damage, 4 shield and 7 hit points. So if ever my 2 melee cards in front would die, he can sustain damage for a few rounds.

I placed DHAMPIR STALKER and MANTOID in the fifth and sixth place respectively due to their high damage.

Lastly, the star of this battle THE CENTAUR OF ANUMUN!

I chose to place it in the middle, which I always do, to prevent any sneak attacks.

Most of his cards have 2 range damage but low hit points so it was easy to kill them.

The first monster to be attacked with Centaur's snipe was the Mantoid, my own Mantoid also targeted it so by the second round, it was gone.

My enemy's Mantoid was also sniping Djinn Muirat but since it has 4 shield, it was able to survive it.

My tank was only able to survive two rounds because of the range monster's attacks but I was able to leave the Elven Defender and the Luminous Eagle with low health, they also got torn so I just had to deal with a 3 hp Eagle.

By round 3, his first three cards were gone and I still have 5 cards left. With Lone Boatman on the first slot, he cannot attack anymore, my Disintegrator still has 5 hit points so it was able to take the remaining attacks of Pelacor Arbalest and Supply Runner.

During the fourth round, I was left with Djinn Muirat at the frontline, so my range monsters are still able to attack.

round four.jpg

My opponent's monsters were left with 1 hit point so after Djinn Muirat's attack to the Lone Boatman, it was gone. Dhampir Stalker attacked Pelacor Arbalest next, and poof! it was also gone.

He was only left with Supply Runner, and we know that range monsters cannot attack when they're on the first position so I had a freehit fiesta with that!

I personally love CENTAUR and have been using it ever since I started playing Splinterlands especially if I see that my opponent uses a healer placed in the middle, my first thought would be this card since it can easily snipe those cards.

It's sad that it's not a started card anymore but I think I will buy one since it's pretty cheap these days.

All right! That's it for my entry this week! Till the next challenge!

Good job on your placements. Yeah that Centaur is good, but you had a great overall strategy for that battle.

I don't have that Djin yet... 😞

Hehe. I might have to buy him!
