Just a quick note, this is from the point of view of a small time player with no thousands of dollars to spend on buying packs and less than a hundred SPS stacked.
It took me almost the entire voucher airdrop time to accumulate JUST ONE VOUCHER and I even wasn’t able to complete it. I was getting around 0.025 Voucher per day and if you will compute that, I need 40 days just to complete one. And after the first voucher airdrop ended, I only got like 0.82 voucher and wasn’t able to buy any CL pack from that.
What I did was, I went looking around Facebook groups and found someone selling vouchers and CL packs (just be very careful about this because there’s a lot of scammers out there), I remember buying 1 voucher for 1,700 DEC, I was able to save around 4,000 DEC from matches and quest rewards back when players can still get 2,000 DEC from quest rewards using quest potions. I cashed in $4 worth of credits and bought my only CL pack using a voucher, I did this because I was hoping to get Dr. Blight even if I had a very slim chance.
Aside from that. I also bought 2 CL packs (each worth 850 DEC at that time) from him but these packs are not qualified for the Dr. Bright airdrop.
And after that was the waiting game, everyone had to wait for a month to open packs. And the hype was real! I remember a day before the CL pack opening wherein the card price shot up up to $15, which was insane!
And here is what I got from the opening, I opened them altogether because I like the feel of seeing a lot of cards, I got this from watching Clove71 open a lot of card packs at the same time. I was also hoping to get a legendary by opening them all at one time. And was I able to get a legendary?
Tada! Sadly, no legendary but I got a meta summoner, ‘Obsidian’ which I’m very thankful for since I don’t have to rent that card anymore and two common gold foils.
Did I get the value of what I paid for for these packs from these cards? Technically, NO. Because according to peakmonsters, the cards I got would only total to $15 and I spent around $40 for all 3 packs.
Did I regret buying it? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I love the feeling of opening card packs, that alone is enough to keep me playing the game.
One thing I got lucky on though is...
I GOT DR. BLIGHT!🎉🎉🎉
I honestly though everyone who purchased packs using vouchers will get Dr. Blight but it's actually by luck too because I've asked around and found out about this guy who bought 50 packs for a sure Dr. Blight and still didn't get him.
P.S: It says 2 packs there because, remember when I said I only got 0.82 vouchers, I found out you can buy a percent of the voucher in Hive so I did that and was able to open another pack.
And yes, not lucky again. 😅
So, I guess, I will just wait for the general sale.
And to answer the question in my headline, is it worth buying chaos legion packs for small time players? My honest answer would be, just wait for the general sale. In other words, NO.
But if you think, the stars align whenever you do something risky, then just go ahead. It's your money you are going to use anyways.
Okay, until my next blog.
