Hello everyone! It's a new week and a new battle challenge. And in this challenge, the lucky monster comes from the life splinter. Today we'll play with the Chaos Knight.
It's a mele monster that I use from time to time, mainly because of the shield ability, and secondly for the giant killer.
It gets more interesting at level five once it gains his second ability - giant killer. But even without that, he has its use due to the shield ability and high melee damage.

On to the match itself.
Rules
- Noxious Fumes
- Lost Magic
- 13 mana
- Earth, life, Dragon splinters allowed
It was a low mana battle, and on top of that, it was with Noxious Fumes ruleset. Quite a combo to play in.
But it had to be done, and I wanted to feature the Chaos Knight in this battle. My only fear was that my opponent could run with Mylor, but I didn't see one in his previous battles, so I made my team as follows.
My team
(Summoner) General Sloan
I picked this summoner as, without the Chaos Knight itself, I could add a few more cards. And one of them was a range card that would synergize with the summoners' ability.
Some say that this summoner is not that good (hence the low price), but I have lots of fun with him in various battles (silver and gold league) when I see that a ranged team has more chances to do good.
(Spot 1) Chaos Knight
And right from the start, we have our main card and this battles star - Chaos Knight. I picked him due to the battle rules - low-mana situation, and no magic allowed.
Because of that, his shield ability could shine and hopefully win the match for me.
(Spot 2) Herbalist
This card comes from the untamed edition. I picked it for two reasons. First - it's a ranged card that gets another attack point from summoners' buff. And second - it has the cleanse ability.
His ability here is more important, as it would remove the poison effect from my tank, thus giving me better chances to win this match.
(Spot 3) Creeping Ooze
I had a single mana point left, so I added a card that could take a hit from a sneak monster. On top of that, it would slow down opponents' cards, giving me a chance to hit first. That in low-mana battles often is rather important.
(Spot 4) Furious Chicken
And finally, I added one more card that could take another hit, same as Creeping Ooze. The old and trusty Furious Chicken with zero mana cost.
As you can see, I was relying on my main card - Chaos Knight to carry this match as my other cards would die real fast thanks to the Noxious Fumes.
But what did my opponent bring to the party? Let's have a closer look.
Opponents team
My opponent went with the earth splinter. In his lineup, there were two self-healing cards. That sure meant some trouble for me.
Some may say that I was outclassed in this battle due to the two self-healing monsters, but was it so?
The battle lasted 6 rounds. Let's take a look at what happened.
During round one, not much happened. Herbalist removed the poison from Chaos Knight, and he held up nicely against the Flash Golem and Earth Elemental.
At the start of round two, my low-health monsters died as expected. And this is where I started to doubt if I could win this match. This was the last round where Herbalist could attack, and after that, the Chaos Knight would be left all alone.
At the start of round three, Chaos Knight had his last stand. But my opponent also has weakened thanks to my attacks and poison.
Round four was decisive as it started with poison damage. And the Flash Golem had just 3 points left. Perfect! My Chaos Knight hit him, and there was only Earth Elemental remaining that could not attack. And so the Knight, with just a single hit point remaining, chopped the health of the tree away.
It took one more round to finish off the Earth Elemental, but the battle was won in the previous round.
Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time
My strategy for this match worked great, even though I had doubts at the start of the battle due to the two self-healing cards. But in the end, it worked perfectly where this matches star card did carry the whole fight. The only thing that could have changed was to swap out the Creeping Ooze with the Lensmaster card for extra damage.
Do you like the Chaos Knight? Why or why not?
It's a great card that I use from time to time. It's a semi-low mana tank that can also deal good damage. And on top of that, surprise an opponent when a 10+ mana card is present in the match.
