Hello everyone, today I wanna share the results and observations that surged after a post I made in r/Splinterlands asking the question of the title in a poll where 155 users gave their answers. The results are here in this graphic:

Players (including me) believes that Life Splinter is the Worst Element to play with and abismal 42% and way far from Death, that was chosen second with 24%. In the middle are Dragon and Fire with really close results (13% and 14% respectebly) followed by Water with 6%.

Finally, Earth was chosen as the stronger Splinter by having a brutal 1% of people thinking is the worst Splinter to play. I personally don´t use it pretty much in my battles prefering Water, but I got to admit that monsters like REGAL PERYTON or UNICORN MUSTANG are one of my favorites cards in the game.

Some users also commented about the topic giving some valuables opinions worth of sharing:

  • One user said that he voted reluctantly Life because it is working really well for him in the Gold League, specially in low Mana situations with cards like Furious Chicken (which is Neutral), Silversheild Bard, Pelacor Conjurer, Time Mage , Defender of Truth.

However, he says he voted Life because in Bronze League and Silver League the story is completely different but adding that Lorna Shine and Clay Golem are really good cards to use in battle but still wouldn´t be his/her first choice either.

  • Other user added that Tyrus Paladium,Crystal Jaguar on LV4,Divine Healer and Armorsmith also works pretty well in low mana.

In counterpart, the user said that in cases of High Mana battles, he likes to go with Shieldbearer, both healers, Armorsmith and some ranged or magic for DPS (usually a higher level air elemental and/or peacekeeper as I have those). Silvershield Knight/Assassincombo works well in this build.

  • Other user choosed Death as the worst because he can’t be bothered to learn it better. He used to love Earth but it became so spammy and everyone just plays the same team in Silver and Bronze. It’s boring now so he/she avoids it and when he/she has to use it,lose.

In response, other user said that he/she was facing bots that put up the same sort of combinations out there. You just have to guess which summoner and then counter, which is the tricky part.

Also advices that "concentrating on 2-3 splinters is garbage. You build up for every splinter so that you can be ready to counter anything.Death is a strong and tricky splinter, the weakness is the lack of opportunity cards. Death has two hard counters and a hedge counter against Obsidian with summoners."

Also says that Mylor Crowling works great against common Fire and Water summoners.

He/she finalizes the comment by saying "Death is also great when paired w/ Dragon on Super Sneak. You can put a Cursed Windeku on the back end with a Djinn Chwala in front or you can use a Desert Dragon with a Harklaw up front while the rest of your backline can be sneak/snipe heavy."

To this answer, there was a response from another user that said and I cites "To really build a splinter you are looking at gold level. Before it's just buy a higher level summoner, buy 2-4 higher level cards. Carry yourself to Silver 2. Before Chaos Legion it was Mylor only, go to Silver 2. Now it's probably the new earth splinter level 2 and a few basic cards and you'll easily get to Silver 2.

You can't really afford to build every splinter after that level so you need to decide at a certain point."

To this, the other user answers "You can definitely rent your way to it and use rewards cards as your stabilizer, sort of like a trailing stop. You want to be able to play anything because splinters will be excluded and you don't want to be left with your pants down.

Build up everything and have your counters ready. It's a slow build rather than fast results. The meta in bronze/silver is Obsidian w/ Unicorn Mustang up front OR Kelya w/ Serpent of Eld, Deeplurker, Merdaali, and Hireling."

To end this chain of comments, another user shared his opinion:
"So renting just for power isn't really profitable anymore, renting cards for rank is just a losing game. 2 DEC per win in silver 3 tells the whole story. The reward cards have no value atm. Renting prices are still pretty stable DEC-wise. Renting to play isn't as worth it as a few months before.

If you calculate alone, in how many rounds really none of the selected 2-3 Splinter are available, you might end up with 1/20 or 1/30 games. 5/30 games may not have optimal conditions, but are still playable. So either you have a suitable splinter in 30/30 matches, but none that is really good, or you have one or more well-functioning splinters in 25/30 matches, but none in 5 matches.
I think the decision should be obvious. Of course, if you have thousands of dollars to spare, you can easily set up any Splinter well.
Sure it's a slow build. If I now want to build up every Splinter instead of say a single one, I need 6x as long or 6x as much money. If I go for one Splinter instead, I can already play in a higher league (especially important to jump out of Bronze to Silver) and therefore earn more, because the rewards are better, I have built up the necessary money much faster. To build up the second splinter would take nearly half of the time."

  • The last comment made in the post is this: "MMM yes, keep voting my favorite splinters, keeping their prices so low. And my Contessa will continue to have >50% win rate against yodin (Yodin only wins that fight at >40 mana cap, which isn't too often)."

I think it's the Earth element personally. I always seem to have a hard time and try and avoid those quests.
