I started playing Splinterlands a bit more seriously lately and this is my first time actually playing through a full season. It was going pretty well for the first few days, but it really started picking up once there were only 5 days left to the end of the season. Now that it's under 2 days left, I can't really play anymore without just immediately losing every single game.
I've noticed that in the past couple days, now that the season is winding down, the cards that opponents are using are insanely overpowered. When I look them up, they're usually going for $40 and up. Some are even going for $250 at times.
This has made it increasingly difficult to get Daily Focus chests anymore which means I can't win new cards at the moment. So really the only way to have even a chance at a win anymore is to drop way more money than I'm comfortable with on cards. And I'm not even using starter cards anymore. I dropped like $100 into the game last week so I'm not starting from nothing. That's just how tough the competition is right now.
My advice to anyone just starting out, especially if you can't really afford to invest any money into the game, just play the ranked at the beginning of the season, but it's not really worth the time to play in the last week of the season because that's when the competition gets a bit too fierce for beginners.
I managed to secure 8 Season Chests, mostly last week. I haven't even earned 1 chest this week because I can't seem to win any battles anymore. I know it's going to take some time to get better in the game and progress, but I do worry that it's a bit too weighted in favor of long-standing players to really be accessible to new players who aren't willing to invest in the game upfront.

When end of season coincides with a weekend it becomes double chaotic :)
